| Description (Service) | Provides general information to the public and supports, assessment and treatment to individuals affected by arthritis. Offers occupational therapy services in a clinic environment, home, workplace and school visits as required. Clients can learn: * to manage pain * about medication * exercises to reduce stiffness, increase strength and improve fitness * energy conservation and joint protection * ways to cope with the emotional impact of arthritis * how their families can help * ways to adapt their homes and workplaces Clinics are held weekly in Peterborough and monthly in Cobourg, Campbellford, Lindsay, Haliburton, Kinmount and Port Hope. Appointment is required * visit website for educational materials and on-line self management programs for people with arthritis Also offers: * professional education to medical and paramedical groups * education and skills needed to manage arthritis through occupational therapist-led programs "Osteoarthritis of the Hand" and "Stay Active - Manage Osteoarthritis Pain" |
