Description (Service) In an immediate crisis go to the Emergency Department or contact the Four County Community Mental Health Crisis Response Program at 705-745-6484 or 1-866-995-9933 * 24 hours a day, seven days a week

Offers assessment and treatment for people with serious mental health and addiction problems and their families to promote recovery and improve quality of life.

Provides specialized services through integrated and coordinated clinical programs:

Adult Outpatient Program - treatment for people with a serious and persistent mental illness and their families.
Services include:
  • crisis intervention
  • initial intake and assessment
  • psychiatry consultation and psychological testing
  • group therapy
  • individual counselling
  • Psychological testing
  • community advocacy and community links
Adult Inpatient Program -
  • crisis intervention, assessment, stabilization, short-term treatment and discharge planning for people with serious mental health issues.
  • Individuals 18 years and older are admitted by their physician or through the Emergency Department.
  • Provides 24/7 nursing care as well as social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists and psychiatrists.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit (CAPU) - a six (6) bed short-stay assessment and stabilization unit.
  • provides a safe and low-stimulus therapeutic environment for youth 17 years of age and under.
  • Patients meet with a Psychiatrist and Social Worker daily.
  • Nursing staff and Child and Youth Workers are onsite to support youth in their treatment.
  • Treatment may include managing medications, teaching distress tolerance and emotional regulation skills, and safety planning.
  • Family or guardians and other community service providers are involved in care.
Regional Community Treatment Order Coordinator (CTOC) - available as a regional resource to Peterborough, Haliburton and Northumberland Counties and City of Kawartha Lakes.
  • A Community Treatment Order (CTO) is a form issued by a physician that allows a person with severe and persistent mental illness who does not engage voluntarily in outpatient follow-up to receive treatment in their community rather than in the hospital.
  • CTO Coordinator helps identify people who would benefit from a CTO, assists treatment team and provides education to consumers, families, healthcare providers and other service providers.

Regional Early Psychosis Intervention Program - helps individuals who have experienced the onset of a psychosis benefit from early treatment and provides support to their families

Application Adult Outpatient Program requires a referral from a physician or nurse practitioner.
Treats people who live in Peterborough County or are referred from Community Mental Health Clinics in the counties of Northumberland, Haliburton or City of Kawartha Lakes.
