Description (Service) Trent Accounting Society offers free income tax assistance for students unable to complete or to pay to have their income tax and benefit return completed. Accounting student volunteers complete the income tax and benefit return if income is low and tax situation is simple. Assists with current year return only.

Public Comments The counter will be located in the student center (Starbucks) on the second floor and the rooms are inside 2.10. The waiting room is at the Trent Central student association.

Eligibility Suggested maximum income levels should serve as a guideline only. 
Single Up to $30,000 
Couple Up to $40,000 
One adult with child Up to $35,000 
* for each additional dependent, add $2,500 
Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as: 
* returns for deceased persons; 
* individuals who file for bankruptcy; 
* self-employed individuals; 
* individuals who report capital gains or losses; or 
* individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses. 
Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include: 
* Aboriginal peoples; 
* Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients; 
* Newcomers to Canada; 
* Seniors; and 
* Students
