|Description (Service)||Assists people to find or keep their housing.
Provides information on affordable rental housing and homelessness services in Peterborough City and County.
Maintains rental vacancy listings for the City and County of Peterborough on website and in person in office. Free online vacancy listings for landlords. Listings of other local, publicly advertised vacancies are available through website links, in person or by email.
Information and assistance on how to apply for affordable and rent geared-to-income housing (subsidized, public, non-profit or co-operative) for families, seniors, couples or individuals.
Information on landlord and tenant rights and obligations and income support programs such as Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program and referrals to related services throughout the City and County or in other areas of the province. Housing support and counselling services are provided for people facing barriers to finding or maintaining appropriate housing.
Administers emergency funds for homelessness prevention Housing Stability Fund for low income residents of Peterborough City and County to help find or keep housing
Eligible expenses include:
- last month's rent
- utility deposits
- rent arrears
- utility arrears
Other housing-related expenses may be considered, such as moving and storage, or emergency needs for people who are homeless.
People who receive an eviction notice or are facing disconnection of utilities or heating services should call immediately for information or assistance and to determine eligibility for emergency funds.
Funds are limited and subject to availability. Applicants must meet eligibility criteria and provide verification of all information, including income, housing costs and other expenses.
All services are confidential and free.
