Description (Service) | Outdoor Education Centre * Operates throughout the school year providing dynamic and innovative programs for students in grades K-12 * Over 50 high quality, experiential based programs grounded in the Ontario Curriculum for elementary and high school students * Programs fall under five broad areas: leadership, environmental science, history, recreation and the arts * Educators on staff are all university graduates, many teacher-trained, who share a lifetime commitment to excellence in education in the outdoors and offer a wide range of knowledge and experience in natural science, history, geography, environmental studies, outdoor living skills, group development and adventure learning * Most overnight school visits to the Outdoor Education Centre are 2½ days (2 nights) in duration (Mon-Wed or Wed-Fri), but shorter & longer visits are also available * Students and adults with special dietary needs are given individual attention and alternative meals Facility Rentals * Throughout the Fall, Winter & Spring (from Labour Day weekend in September to mid-June), the facilities are available to rent on weekends for group retreats, conferences, family events, or team building programs. * Accommodations for up to 150 people in full-winterized cabins * All proceeds from facility rentals help to support outdoor and environmental education programs for youth |
