| Description (Service) | Works to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities in the Peterborough area by promoting equal opportunities in all aspects of life through advocacy, awareness and education. Active Together a program that works to increase opportunities and participation rates for persons with disabilities within sport and recreation. Mentorship is provided by staff Ambassadors who are passionate about sport and recreation and live with a disability to assist in motivating and exploring new opportunities, as well as periodic workshops to try new activities. Time in My Shoes (TIMS) is an experiential program delivered to schools, and currently being modified for community/business deliveries, which provides accessibility awareness facilitated by volunteers who live with a disability. AODA and other legislation exist to address accessibility and theTIMS workshop provides the human context as to why accessibility and inclusion matter. Also offers a volunteer committee that organizes National Access Awareness Week activities |
