Description (Service) | Provides protection services for children and youth, including: * assessment and investigation of situations where a child may be deemed to be at risk of physical, sexual or emotional harm or abuse, or in situations of neglect * case management, service coordination, crisis intervention * temporary relief for parents on a planned basis to alleviate stress when receiving counselling * residential care when necessary to protect a child from harm in the home * foster care, group care and placement with extended family as kin in care * supervised and semi-supervised access visits while children are not residing with a parent * adoption and post-adoption support * financial literacy, life skills courses and independent living support for youth transitioning to independence * financial support for youth over 21, primarily for education costs * pregnancy counselling and planning regarding the pending birth of a child to a single parent Offers the Triple P Parenting Program one-on-one in the home * provides coaching and education on positive parenting Family Preservation Program provides practical assistance for parents and teens experiencing conflict * provides support for child management and parenting in cases where child is at risk Also provides an Adoption Disclosure Service to adult adoptees in accordance with relevant legislation |
