Arthritis Rehabilitation and Education Program (AREP)

AREP provides general information to the public and supports, assessment and treatment to individuals affected by arthritis who reside in Ontario as services are funded by Ontario Health.

Offers occupational therapy services in a clinic environment, home, workplace and school visits as required. Clients can learn:

• to manage pain
• about medication
• exercises to reduce stiffness, increase strength and improve fitness
• energy conservation and joint protection
• ways to cope with the emotional impact of arthritis
• how their families can help
• ways to adapt their homes and workplaces

Clinics are held weekly in Peterborough and monthly in Cobourg, Campbellford, Lindsay, Haliburton, Kinmount and Port Hope. Appointment is required

• professional education to medical and paramedical groups
