Description

Description (Service) A privately funded, volunteer-based organization that provides kids affected by childhood cancer with unique opportunities for growth through challenging, fun, enriching and magical experiences at no cost to their families.

Summer Camp - Residential Camp in Rosseau, Muskoka with a volunteer pediatric oncologist and three oncology nurses from the Hospital for Sick Children onsite and available 24 hours a day to administer expert medical treatment offering:
  • Three two-week summer camp sessions for children with cancer, ages 6-14
  • Teomul: one-week session in the summer for bereaved siblings, ages 6-19
  • 7Scape: one-week session in the summer for recently diagnosed teens, ages 15-18
Weekends At Camp (WAC's) - a total of eight weekends during the fall and winter for children with cancer and bereaved siblings, ages 6-19

Leadership program - Year-round programming for young camp leaders affected by childhood cancer, ages 16-19, that focuses on leadership skills and team building including:
  • Workshops & community service programs Including Habitat for Humanity projects and Ronald McDonald House dinners
  • Credit Recovery program: campers receive a Grade 11 Healthy, Active Living credit with the successful completion of the LIT 1 Program
Toronto Ooch Downtown and In-City Programs - the only recreational facility in North America for children affected by childhood cancer offers:
  • Year-round themed programs at Ooch Downtown, for kids of all ages, including siblings where kids work on developing a specific skill (i.e. music workshops, cooking and baking, etc.)
  • Family programs: themed programs for the whole family to participate in and provide the opportunity for families to connect, and meet the Ooch Volunteers
  • Summer specialties week: week of activities at Ooch Downtown during the summer for kids ages 8-12 who are unable to travel to Muskoka. Includes animation workshop, tour of the Roger's Centre, cooking, rock climbing, crafts and various sports
  • Day Camp: Two, two-week sessions in the Toronto Area, for kids ages 4-7, as well as a March break Day Camp at Ooch Downtown
  • Urban Ooch: one-day camp-style programs at Ooch Downtown or in the Toronto Area
In-hospital program, The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids)
  • Camp-style programs and activities seven days a week on the oncology floor at SickKids for both in and out-patients, ages 2-18
  • Evening programming, Monday to Thursday, for in-patients where volunteers provide programs in the play room and bedside visits
  • Weekly special events in the conference room including drumming workshops, theme days and movie premieres
