Description (Service) | COVID-19 Response Due to the pandemic, the 2021 tax clinic will not be done in person. Individuals can set up a telephone appointment by calling 1-800-685-1521, Mon-Fri 9 am-5 pm. Instructions for the phone session will be given and a time and date set. Regular Service Hosted by United Way Northeast and Credit Counselling Sudbury. For individuals unable to complete their income tax and benefit return themselves and are unable to pay for assistance, the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) may be able to assist. Volunteers can help complete the income tax and benefit return if income is low and tax situation is simple. Volunteers do not complete income tax and benefit returns for deceased persons, bankrupt individuals, or individuals who have capital gains or losses, employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses. All individuals must bring tax information with them (eg- T4,T5 etc) |

Eligibility | These suggested maximum income levels should serve as a guideline only: * Single - Up to $35,000 * Couple - Up to $45,000 (combined income of a couple, or one adult with one child under 18) * add $2500 for each additional dependent child in the family Local community organizations have the flexibility to adjust or set additional eligibility criteria for taxpayers based on the local economic environment, the population they serve, and their own capacity Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as: * returns for deceased persons * individuals who file for bankruptcy * self-employed individuals * individuals who report capital gains or losses * individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include: * Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients * Newcomers to Canada * Seniors * Students |
