Description (Service) | An organization that advocates for meaningful employment opportunities for psychiatric consumer/survivors and emphasizes the importance of work in the lives of people who have been marginalized by mental health/addictions challenges, poverty, homelessness, violence and refugee/new comer issues. Working for Change operates four Alternative businesses (businesses operated entirely by consumer/survivor employees): The Raging Spoon Catering Company Out of This World Cafe Parkdale Green Thumb Enterprises Grassroots Research Working for Change also houses "Voices from the Street", a speaker's bureau. Members of "Voices" provide public education on issues related to homelessness, mental health and poverty and seek to impact public policy in these areas. |
