Description (Service) Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority(GRCA) was established to further the conservation, restoration, development, and management of renewable natural resources.  
* Watershed strategies and management * flooding and erosion protection * flood forecasting and warning* Ontario low water response * surface water quality and quantity studies * groundwater management and protection * reforestation and sustainable woodlot management * ecosystem regeneration * environmental education and information programming * land acquisition * outdoor recreation * soil conservation * Source Water Protection * environmental land use planning * habitat restoration and protection * agricultural and rural landowner assistance * water resource and climate monitoring * sensitive wetlands * flood plains and valley lands protection,conservation area management * fish, wildlife and habitat studies. 
* Conservation Areas: 
Millennium Conservation Area, Thurne Parks Conservation Area, Richardson's Lookout Conservation Area, Garden Hill Conservation Area, Rice Lake Conservation Area, Sylvan Glen Conservation Area, Port Hope Conservation Area and Corbett's Dam, Cobourg Conservation Area and Ball's Mill Conservation Area, as well as the Ganaraska Forest (www.ganaraskaforestcentre.ca)
