DUE TO COVID 19 PANDEMIC PROVINCE OF ONTARIO HAS POSTPONED 2020 ASSESSMENT UPDATE.  https://www.mpac.ca/en/UnderstandingYourAssessment/AssessmentCycle

In 2016, a Property Assessment Notice was mailed to every property owner in the province – assessing more than five million properties in Ontario. Your 2016 Notice reflects the assessed value and classification of your property as of January 1, 2016 and this will be used as the basis for calculating your 2022 and 2023 property taxes.

MPAC is responsible for accurately assessing and classifying all properties in Ontario in compliance with the Assessment Act and regulations set by the Government of Ontario. MPAC provides municipalities with a range of services, including the preparation of annual assessment rolls used by municipalities to calculate property taxes.
As part of the Ontario Government’s Budget on March 24 2021, the Minister of Finance announced the Province’s decision to postpone a province-wide property assessment update due to the pandemic.
MPAC continues to update Property Assessment Data and you may receive a Property Assessment Notice from MPAC which could be due to:

1. change to your property including an addition, new construction, or renovation.
2. A structure on your property was assessed for the first time
3. A change to your property’s classification
4. A property no longer qualifies as farmland, conservation land or managed forests
5. All or part of your property no longer qualifies to be tax exempt

Property owners can visit https://www.aboutmyproperty.ca/ to learn more about how their property was assessed, see the information on file, and compare it to others in their neighbourhood.  Owners can update or change their School Support designation on-line using AboutMyProperty which is a fast, simple and quicker process than completing a paper form.
