Regular Service
This program operates under the legislation of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, Sections 63-66. The primary role is to conduct neutral, second-party reviews of children/youth who are residing in an out of home placement to ensure the placement is meeting their needs.
  • Mandate is to gather information to be able to advise, inform, and assist parents/families, children/youth, Placing Agencies and Service Providers with respect to the appropriateness of each placement meeting the child/youth's unique needs. Mandatory Reviews are conducted for children/youth living in an out of home placement where the potential of 10 youth or more are living on the same property for more than 90 days. A child/youth who objects to their out of home placement can request a reveiw of their placement by the committee at any time.
  • The committee acts as an advisory body when making recommendations concerning a child/youth's placement under review. Reports from the review are sent to all parties involved in the review and to the Ministry.
  • The RPAC Committee is selected from a roaster of volunteers and professionals with specific expertise.
  • At each review a citizen/chair, a service provider (a person working in the social services field), a representative of the Ministry, and the program coordinator act as a panel to conduct all reviews (Admission, Follow Up, Discretionary and Objection Reviews).
