Description (Service)

A community-based recovery focused and strengths-based program, assisting individuals with a serious mental illness in supported independent living; promoting a safe and healthy environment.

This support is founded in respect, dignity, hope and collaboration. The goals are to:

  • assist people to live as independently as possible
  • assist people to participate in the community
  • provide supports to minimize stress, manage illness and prevent crises and hospitalization
  • provide education and support to enable people to develop and maintain skills and relationships

The Housing Support Program also provides Hoarding Support Services for individuals whose tenancy may be at risk due to hoarding behaviours. Supports are individualized and provided in the client's home.

The Supportive Housing Program also works in collaboration with CMHA-HKPR to provide twenty-four (24) one-bedroom subsidized units leased through private landlords. All clients in subsidized units are supported by Supportive Housing Services and Mental Health Case Management.
