Description (Service) COVID-19 - Completing intakes, programming and conducting check-ins with clients through remote access. This includes, telephone, text, email and on-line platforms

This program is for adults who exhibit:
  • difficulty controlling anger,
  • compulsion to act before thinking of consequences,
  • tendency to blame others for their problems,
  • problems with relationships, family and friends,
  • problems with alcohol or drugs.
The program is a cognitive behavioural group based on the What Works literature and research. It uses an interactive, psycho-educational format

The objectives for the participants during the program and upon program completion are that they:
  • accept responsibility for actions,
  • develop critical thinking skills,
  • develop effective problem solving and decision making skills,
  • have increased awareness and understanding of consequences of negative behaviour patterns,
  • learn strategies to control and change behaviours
  • develop pro-social attitudes, skills and behaviours.
The program runs 10 weeks and meets once a week for 2 hours in the evening. Attendance is mandatory.

Eligibility Individuals 18 years and older referred by court, by other community service providers or self-referred.

Fees Participation not on a probation order range from $120 to $300, sliding scale available
