Service: Extra Judicial Sanctions Program

Description (Service) The Extrajudicial Sanctions Program partners with the City of Kawartha Lake’s Youth Crown’s Office and Youth Justice Committee (YJC), to assist youth through a diversion program as an alternative to the formal court process. 
* Youth facilitator works with the young person to help them take responsibility for the offence, understand its impact and help repair harm.  
* Individual sessions are voluntary and offered as five 1-hour psycho-educational sessions in the following areas: Anger and Aggression Awareness, Substance Involvement, Property Crime Prevention, Healthy Relationships

Eligibility Ages: 12 year(s) - 17 year(s) 
Young people who committed a crime prior to their 18th birthday and accept responsibility for the crime. * Must agree to participate in the program and have an opportunity to speak with a lawyer. * A crown attorney will review the charge and disclose in court if the person is eligible for the program.
Application Appointment required, no walk ins. * Referrals by the Youth Justice Committee or directly through the Crown’s Office
