Service: Good Food Box Program

Description (Service) The Good Food Box Program is a community based initiative with a mission to improve access to affordable and healthy food for all residents of the City of Kawartha Lakes. On a monthly basis, boxes showcasing the season’s freshest vegetables and fruit are packed at Cambridge Street United Church. For $15, individuals receive a full box of produce, a newsletter, exciting recipes, storage tips, fun facts, and games.
The benefits to participating in the GFB Program are endless. Not only are individuals increasing their consumption of fruits and vegetables, they are improving the overall health of the community food system, stretching their food dollar, and supporting local growers.
