Description (Service) The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) is available free to any eligible taxpayer who meets the following criteria:
     
  • Aboriginals; 
  • Low-income individuals; 
  • Social assistance recipients; 
  • ODSP recipients;  
  • Newcomers to Canada; 
  • Seniors; and 
  • Students 
 
Suggested income criteria are:
     
  • individuals earnings up to $30,000 
  • couples earning a family income of up to $40,000 
  • one adult with one child earning a family income of up to $35,000.  
 
Local community organizations have the flexibility to adjust or set additional eligibility criteria for taxpayers based on the local economic environment, the population they serve, and their own capacity. 
 
Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as:
     
  • deceased persons; 
  • individuals who file for bankruptcy; 
  • self-employed individuals; 
  • individuals who report capital gains or losses; or 
  • individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses. 
 
 
The following are the free Income Tax Clinics available in your area: 
 
Fleming College - Walk-In Clinics 
Eligible Participants may include low-income individuals and social assistance recipients, new Canadians, seniors and students. Suggested income criteria are: individuals earnings up to $30,000, couples earning a family income of up to $40,000 and one adult with one child earning a family income of up to $35,000. They are accepting drop-offs. Participants pick up their income taxes the following week. Please have all the required information with you for 2016: SIN, Transit receipts, medical receipts, tuition receipts, T4 slip, T4A slips, rental information, date of birth, etc.

Please bring with you all T4 slips, Pension earnings, earning statement from WSIB, any medical expenses you will be claiming and any other documentation you may have received in the mail from the Government for Income Tax purposes.
