The Meaford Scarecrow Invasion happens every autumn, September through mid-October. Meaford is invaded by hundreds of scarecrows hanging from lamp posts, posing in windows, and gathering outside Market Square & Meaford Hall. A parade and festival is part of the Invasion and occur on the Friday before the Thanksgiving long weekend.

This position promotes the Scarecrow Invasion and its related activities with support from the Promotions Team. No experience needed – just an interest in marketing and a willingness to learn as you go.

The Promotions Lead:

• Develops an annual promotions strategy

• Coordinates the activities of the promotions team

• Develops and submits media releases and ad copy to media outlets

• Acts as the main contact with media outlets for quotes and coordination of efforts

• Maintains a presence on appropriate tourism websites

• Arranges interviews with media outlets

• Coordinates event signage
