Duties | •Set up and clean up materials in the multipurpose room for each program •Find and prepare materials for the programs in advance of the event •Introduce children to the hands-on portion of the program, including a brief overview of how it relates to the program’s general purpose and learning expectations •Lead the group through the exercise, with patient and detailed instructions and demonstrations, assisting the children as required •Answer questions from the students and teacher •Ensure group has finished activity and cleaned up before they move on to the next part of the program | |||

Benefits | Education Program Assistants have the opportunity to teach school children about the past and awaken their curiosity as to how other people lived in other times. They will have the chance to learn new things themselves and make new friends. Upon completion of 20 hours of service annually, they and a guest may visit Grey Roots free of charge. They will receive a quarterly volunteer newsletter, discounts in the gift shop, insurance coverage while on duty and an annual recognition event. Training and orientation is provided. | |||
