Duties•Select and secure a Walk site (with input from ALS Canada) and register the Walk with ALS Canada 
•Apply for a permit at the Parks and Recreation Department of the particular municipality and complete the necessary paperwork 
•Arrange for a certificate of insurance from ALS Canada 
•Read the training manual and other information provided by ALS Canada and attend the fall training conference 
•Obtain local sponsorships 
•Establish a place for committee meetings to be held 
•Recruit volunteer leaders who will assist in organizing the Walk and sit on the Walk committee, and be prepared to fulfill all tasks if unable to recruit committee members 
•Provide the relevant sections and position descriptions in the Walk manual to the committee to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities (including logistics, food, volunteers, entertainment, kid’s area, sponsorship, registration, etc.) 
•Attend and chair Walk meetings and distribute meeting minutes 
•Ensure committee members are accomplishing tasks according to timelines 
•Provide all information regarding the Walk to ALS Canada for updates to the walkforals.ca web site by required dates  
•Oversee all aspects of the Walk on the day of the event 
•Work within the budget for the Walk established by ALS Canada 
•Ensure local expenses are paid and all funds and pledge sheets are forwarded to ALS Canada post‐event 
•Prepare a Walk Profile report following the walk and submit to ALS Canada
