Under adult supervision 2-4 hours per week, mowing greens, cleaning equipment, weeding, shop clean up, other small maintenance activities as required.
Providing assistance to special groups attending the club, such as library night, Cystic Fibrosis "Lawn Summer Nights" event.
Volunteering at the club is a win-win for students and the club. Students gain experience, training and they free up some of the club members who usually provide numerous hours of greens maintenance every season.
Time off:
The club provides back-up/filing-in for students who are away for valid reasons, such as family vacation, illness, etc. Please keep the coordinator fully informed of absences in a timely manner.
Volunteer drivers assist with deliveries of food boxes to distribution sites (Collingwood, Clearview and Wasaga Beach) and/or individuals in the surrounding communities.
Volunteers help with packing fruits and vegetables for monthly good food box orders
As a Sweetwater Volunteer you may help with:
- Greeting Guests, scanning tickets, handing out brochures and issuing wrist bands
- Roasting Bannock or making taffy
- Assiting in the Kids Zone and with make and take crafts
- Directing traffic and parking
- Sharing our natural history onsite with visitors
Volunteers may assist with:
- watering and weeding
- mulching the pathways
- researching a variety of gardening practices or plant care information
- composting/soil building
- participate in group gardening activities
- create and maintain garden structures such as display board or plant lattices
- administration and fundraising
- web site development and maintenance also required
Tear down and re-arrange exhibits. Design, build, research and install new and existing exhibits in coordination with the Museum Curator.
Outside maintenance such as snow shoveling, lawn cutting, gardening, painting etc.
Indoor maintenance would require cleaning inside the museum at the blacksmith shop, fire hall and concession stand.
Volunteers are needed to pack Good Food Boxes the 3rd Tuesday of every month in the Church Hall at Guardian Angels Church, from 8 am to 10 am.
Volunteers are also needed from 10 am to 12 noon to assist individuals that are picking up their Good Food Boxes.
Volunteers are needed to work special events such as Bowl for Kids Sake and Golf for Kids Sake.
Our volunteers help in various aspects of our organization, from direct interaction with program participants, to behind-the-scenes roles.

S.H.I.F.T. Fundraising Committe and Event Volunteers
This committee is a team of volunteers focused on the planning, developing and execution of key fundraising events to support the operational costs of S.H.I.F.T. Working alongside our Donor Relations & Stewardship Officer and a member of our Board of Directors, this committee plays an important role in ensuring the organization has adequate funds for operations.
If you have sales/fundraising experience and a passion for this community, we would love you to join us! We are a fun group, promise!
Time commitments will vary depending on the time of year and the specific event. You don’t need to commit to being part of every fundraising event but we do ask that you have a minimum of 4 hours a month to give to this committee and the responsibilities that come with it.
Coldest Night of the Year - Event Volunteer - Open December through February annually
Volunteers are a large part of the success of our annual CNOY event!
Every year between October and the end of February we look for volunteers to join us in having a blast to raise much needed funds and awareness for S.H.I.F.T.
There are lots of fun volunteer roles to choose from in the Coldest Night of the Year! Roles include: Check-In Crew, Greeters, Route Marshalls, Food Team, Rest Stop Hosts, Send-Off/Welcome Back Crew, and more! Many of our roles are needed for most of the day, while others have shorter timeframes.

After you register to volunteer you'll receive a confirmation email outlining all of the information you've provided to us. Then, expect to hear directly from the Event Volunteer Leader, who will give you more details on volunteering.
Volunteers needed to help with special events, duties include
- Set up and take downs for events including barriers/ gates/ posters/ signs
- help with registration, security
- assisting with Perch Fest, Boat Festival, Santa Claus Parade, Folk festival and Canada Day

- Leading of the horse for warm-up
- Control of the horse during class
- Un-tack horse and cleanup of equipment

- Support the rider as necessary to balance
- Assist rider to complete skills as needed

Volunteers would be responsible for stocking shelves, cleaning the store, re-organizing items, aseembling product, and assisting customers. Volunteers who are interested should visit the website to register to volunteer.
Volunteers must wear certified safety shoes, be capable of lifting up to 25lbs, able to stand for extended periods of time and be comfortable with 2-3 step instruction.
Assist with repairing used bicycle; Salvaging parts; Organizing/sorting bike shop equipment and tools; Assisting clients/public with bicycle repairs.

- Set up/tear down volunteer - carry and set up display tables, attach skirting, put up temporary barriers, place ticket booths at entrances, place cement barriers on track
- Gates/admission booth volunteer - sell tickets, apply wristbands
- Beer tent volunteer- sell tickets or serve drinks, stock coolers. Smart serve required.
- Parking attendants volunteer - direct cars to available parking
- Childrens events volunteer- pedal tractor pull, childrens pet show
