Shoebox Project for Women (The), No Physical Address, Simcoe and Grey County Chapter

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The primary role of a local community coordinator is to identify shelters and resource centres for women in need, identify suitable drop-off locations, market/advertise the drive to your community, fundraise, manage other volunteers, collect, inspect and deliver Shoeboxes to the shelters at a mutually agreed time.
Other aspects of the role include, but are not limited to:
Act as an ambassador of The Shoebox Project in your community
Identify and develop a network of shelters and resource centres to partner with
Manage Chapter specific email inquiries from interested donors, individuals and companies wanting to contribute to the various national fundraisers throughout the entire year (not isolated to holiday season)
Communicate with the national staff on a regular basis regarding your progress (seeking assistance when necessary)
Fundraise: Organize activities to raise funds or otherwise solicit and gather monetary donations to cover chapter expenses
Facilitate corporate, community and school drives
Reach out to local press and community leaders for support
Manage monetary donations and expenses in accordance with organizational procedure
Recruit and manage a committee of volunteers to assist in various duties as needed
Coordinate inspections, storage, transportation and delivery of boxes from drop-off locations to shelters
Qualifications
Interest in issues related to women’s homelessness and desire to give back to your community
Ability to recruit and manage a team of volunteers through a committee format or otherwise
Fundraising & special event planning experience a definite asset
Excellent communication skills – Coordinator is expected to respond to inquiries from community members, coordinate details with shelter staff, work with other local volunteers, corporate and community/school groups, reach out to local press and community leaders and potentially solicit donations from local businesses
Computer savvy (specifically Google based applications), comfortable communicating via email and connecting through social media platforms
Basic understanding of creating, managing and tracking budgets and expenses
