Peer Leaders are volunteers in the South West Self Management Program, who facilitate the Living a Healthy Life workshop series for individuals with chronic health conditions. The workshop series contains 6 sessions - each 2.5 hours in length. Workshops are offered in a community setting with groups of 6-15 participants. Leaders are required to facilitate 2 workshops per year. Peer leaders receive paid mileage and honorarium for each workshop they facilitate. 
 
Workshops are held in various accessible community spaces, such as community center and family health offices.

- May become an officer on the TAB. Officers consist of three Representatives: A President; a Vide-President and a Secretary as well as the Young Adult Information Assistant. 
 
- The President shall work with the Young Adult Information Assistant to organize TAB meetings, create TAB meeting agendas and preside over TAB meetings. The President will serve as membership coordinator, inform members of upcoming meetings, programs and events and serve as contact person for other TAB members. 
 
- The Vice-President will serve as the President in his or her absence. The Vice-President will keep track of active and inactive members and new applications. The Vice-President will inform and remind all members of upcoming meetings, programs and special events or meetings.

This volunteer position requires volunteers to set up (prior to events) and tear down (end of events) tables and chairs, label chairs or bleachers and arrange event material. The family mentor is a volunteer that comes alongside a family to give them

goals. The Family Mentor functions as a partner to the WrapAround facilitator, 
providing direct support and services to the family. 
The manner in which support is provided varies based on the family’s needs and goals. 
Some of these supports could include, but are not limited to, sharing experiences, 
motivating families, helping navigate the service delivery system, connecting family with 
community resources, and serving as a role model and friend. 
 
What does a volunteer family mentor do?

• Meet with your family regularly 
• Build a trust relationship with your family 
• Help family set goals and encourage them as they work to achieve their goals

The mentoring role is a strength-based process which means that the family mentor

family identify their needs and works with the family and others involved to work 
towards the family’s goals. In establishing the supportive relationship with the family, 
the family mentor actively listens to the family to gather information on the family’s 
needs and goals and maintains communication to assist in identifying further or new 
needs or priorities as they arise

With the support of the board of directors, the fund-raising committee is responsible for leading the development of fundraising initiatives for the Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre. Volunteers are needed to assist with fund-raising projects such as raffles, special events, sales. The centre currently raises funds through special events, online donations, and sales of promotional items. Ability to work with other volunteers is essential. Past experience with not-for-profit organizations, experience in fundraising, marketing, event management and media relations are assets, but enthusiasm for a great cause is paramount.
