Run a 7 week program within the elementary schools for kids in grade 6,7 and/or 8. The program focuses on core themes including; body image, self-esteem, healthy eating/activity and building healthy relationship. Volunteers are responsible for a group of 4-8 kids. Its once a week for 90 minutes and its a 7-week program. They run during the school day 9-3pm, Monday-Friday from September-June. Volunteer can run multiple groups during the school year. Location of the program is Barrie, Innisfil, Angus, Baxter and Minesing.

Volunteers will help children with: reading, writing, mathematics and homework completion.
Autism Ontario [Central East]
There are many opportunities to volunteer with Autism Ontario. Whether you are looking for something casual or something more committed, there is a volunteer role suited to you. There are four main areas in which you can volunteer with Autism Ontario:  
 
Administrative: help with mailings, thank you letters, grant writing, etc. 
 
Events: we run events year-round, which require volunteers to keep them running smoothly 
 
Committees: we have several ongoing and adhoc committees that meet during the year

Volunteers are required at all 3 Barrie Public Library Branches and opportunities depend on programs offered.

- Provide a friendly, welcoming greeting to children as they join the program. 
- Assist children during programs to complete activities. 
- Assist with ushering duties during programs, such as crowd control, ticket taking, counting attendance, and admitting latecomers. 
- Assist with craft preparation before the program. 
- Assist with set up and clean up for the program. 
- Work with other volunteers as a team in meeting the needs of each participant. 
- Assist Library staff as required. 
- Report concerns, needs or incidents to the Coordinator, Volunteer Resources or other appropriate Library staff.
