Kawartha Turtle Trauma Centre (KTTC) is seeking volunteer drivers who are willing to assist with transport of native turtles that have been injured on Ontario's roadways. While many drives are located within the Kawarthas, KTTC is now becoming more widely recognized and we are receiving calls from all over Ontario. We often use a relay system to transport turtles to the centre to receive the emergency medical care that they require. Volunteers are added to a contact list and need only to respond when contacted if they are available to do the drive. 
 
Interested volunteers do not need to have any experience with turtles to apply, but must have access to a vehicle.

Reporting to the ERT Supervisor, the ERT Responder will be responsible for various emergency shelter and reception centre response activities in addition to other responsibilities related to emergency preparedness.  
 
Job Summary:  
The Emergency Response Team (ERT) is activated for responses that exceed Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) capacity. The incumbent of this position will be assigned to deliver a specific service on site during a response, however, must know how to deliver all services at the ERT level. During non-response times, the ERT Responder may resume duties as a PDA Responder.

Reporting to the ERT Site Manager, the ERT Supervisor will be responsible for various emergency shelter and reception centre response activities in addition to other responsibilities related to emergency preparedness. The ERT Supervisor will also perform supervisory duties for a team of ERT Responders.  
 
Job Summary:  
The Emergency Response Team (ERT) is activated for a response that exceeds Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) Team capacity. The ERT Supervisor may supervise a team of ERT Responders at the local level. The ERT Supervisor will organize and set up and manage a specific service during a response. The incumbent of this position supervises the work of the responders placed under their responsibility. There may be several services on the site.

Reporting to the PDA Supervisor, the PDA Responder will be responsible to fill various on-call shifts on a 24/7 schedule that includes weekends, holidays and evenings. When called on to respond, the PDA Responder will be required to provide relief directly to clients in need of assistance.  
 
Job Summary:  
The Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) Team is activated to respond and provide assistance for up to the first 72 hours following a disaster. The incumbent of this position is responsible for conducting a needs assessment to determine the needs of the clients. The PDA Responder will provide, as appropriate to agreements with the local authorities, Emergency Social Services (ESS) for relief, referral services and direct assistance for recovery, as well as, works with the PDA Supervisor to plan and organize ongoing preparedness activities. They may be asked to deliver services during a large-scale emergency response in their community.  
 
Working Conditions:  
• Potential for responding in disaster areas, as well as difficult and unstable conditions (environmental, physical, social, etc.) and uncomfortable conditions (noise, odours, smoke, humidity, vulnerable clients). These environments have the potential to affect the overall wellbeing of the responders on site.  
• The incumbent may need to stand for several hours.  
• The incumbent may need to lift up to 20 kg of relief supplies during preparedness activities and during response.  
• Ability to respond during non-traditional hours (i.e. late night or weekends) and long hours of work in a demanding context.  
• Ability to be on-call when scheduled, as required.
