Museum Volunteer- Our museum collection continues to grow and The Craigleith Heritage Depot requires assistance in maintaining and researching artifacts. This volunteer would assist in photography, organization, research and creating finding aids.  
The collections volunteer will assist with all or some of these tasks 
• creating on a computer finding aids for subjects  
• photographing or scanning artifacts  
• working on special programmes related to research/geneology/history 
• researching artifacts 
The collections volunteer will be provided training on the existing resources and how to use databases and on-line resources. We seek a bi-weekly or weekly commitment of a minimum of 2-3 hours Wednesday afternoon/evening.

*Library volunteers help with toy and book transactions and the assembly of learning kits.  
*Volunteer parenting course leaders help to co-lead our parent-child and parent only classes on various parenting and child development topics.  
*School readiness volunteer opportunities are available in different school settings throughout the school year.  
*Lunch program volunteers help with the preparation of snacks and lunches at our School for Young Moms.

Coordinating delivery of materials to library patrons who are unable to visit the library due to health reasons. Checking in via phone with volunteers and patrons, and ensuring that deliveries are made in a timely manner. Recruiting new volunteers for delivery. Apply by attending a scheduled information session. Call to pre-register at 705-876-5066. These are held on the second Thursday of each month at 1:30 pm and the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 pm. Registered information session attendees meet at the Information Desk in the main entrance prior to the session. If not able to attend an information session, call and information will be mailed. Two written references and a current police record check are required.

The role of the Circulation Desk-Librarian Assistant Volunteer is to provide and facilitate library services to the patrons of Otonabee - South Monaghan Public Library, as required by legislation of the Ministry of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation, Public Libraries Act R.S.O. June 1990; and the policies and procedures as established by the Otonabee – South Monaghan Public Library Board.  
Punctuality, reliability and confidentiality are very important components of the Circulation Desk-Librarian Assistant Volunteer’s position within the library. 
As a volunteer you must adhere to the Otonabee-South Monaghan Public Library Board policies and procedures as well as the library’s code of ethics. 
Duties or responsibilities include working at the circulation desk checking books in and out, shelving books, registering new patrons, calculating and collecting fines, supervising photocopier and FAX, notifying patrons of materials on reserve, preparing daily circulation statistics, receiving inter library loan requests as well as other duties that may be required.  
The Circulation Desk-Librarian Assistant Volunteer acts as a public relations officer and promotes the Otonabee – South Monaghan Public Library.
