Hope Haven Therapeutic Riding Centre

Leaders: Leaders are in charge of leading our horses during lessons. The leader is focused on the horse and making sure they are both happy and content during lessons. They also get the horse ready before lessons. 
 
Side Walkers: Side Walkers are in charge of the rider and making sure that the rider is safe and secure during their lesson. 
 
Schoolers : Schoolers are in charge of helping us to keep our horses exercised, trained and fit! A schooler should be out regularly to ride and school one or more horses. Schoolers have a procedure to follow and will be in communication with our instructors regarding the horses needs and areas of focus. Of course, we encourage our schoolers to love up their horses and show them all the appreciation and attention they deserve! (It's basically part boarding a horse without having to pay so win- win for everyone!) 
 
Alternate: Alternate volunteers are focused on assisting with the facilitation of activities with our kids. These activities can include sledding, yoga, sports, creative arts, educational hikes etc. 
 
Horse Buddies: Horse buddies are people who help take care of our horses by coming out to groom them, perform a health check and of course, show them affection. 
 
These are just a few of our main activities, however there is a ton of other activities where we could use your help! Gardening, odd jobs, building etc (just to name a few).

Volunteers are matched up with families along with our staff as Special Friends and help our families have an unforgettable time. This is a sleepover program, volunteers stay in our counselor accommodations and are asked to arrive the day before camp starts for training and orientation. Room and board are provided.

Ambassador Partners share their sight and help facilitate the CNIB Ambassadors Program. Ambassador Partners drive members of the Ambassador team (volunteer speakers who are blind or partially sighted) to presentations, assisting with set-up/take-down of displays, and educating the public about the role the CNIB plays in improving eye health and improving lives!

Camp Trillium offers free residential and day camps in various communities throughout Ontario for children and their families living with childhood cancer. Volunteers are needed to supervise small groups of children at camp and ensure camper and personal safety. Volunteers will also develop supportive relationships with campers and participate in camp activities such as swimming, arts and crafts and campfires.

Volunteers will assist residents with Sunday church services at 2 p.m. Regular attendance with the residents is required to establish patterns. Volunteers are also needed to help transport residents for our Tuesday afternoon multi-faith services, and for special events. Just two hours a week can make a huge difference in a resident's life.
