As a Volunteer, you would attend monthly meetings, help out with special events, and may take on responsibilities for specific duties - ie. advertising, concession stand, etc.
There are a variety of volunteer opportunities including volunteering at bingo on behalf of the Friends of the Museum.
Tear down and re-arrange exhibits. Design, build, research and install new and existing exhibits in coordination with the Museum Curator.
Responsible for sales, promoting, inventory, tourist information and museum tours.
- Assist in office with general reception duties such as:
- Greeting and welcome clients
- Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls
- Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, faxing
Provide general administrative support, reception coverage and help with office cleaning.
- Receive, direct and relay telephone messages, fax messages and email
- Greet and direct the general public to the appropriate staff member
- Receive, open and distribute mail to appropriate staff member
- Operate standard office equipment such as the photocopier and printer
- Book room appointments
- Tasks to help keep the office tidy
- Small projects as assigned
- Answer telephone, transfer calls to appropriate person and direct callers to voicemail
- Greet and screen visitors and clients in a friendly and professional manner
- Perform other office duties as needed
Volunteers needed for the Santa Claus Parade. There are a range of opportunities including:
- Banner Carriers (age 12 and up or accompanied by an adult)- walk in the parade carrying a sponsor banner (arrive 1 hr prior to parade; approximately 3 hour time commitment)
- Staging Assistants- help with directing traffic flow in/ out of staging area, monitoring entrance/ exit of staging area, helping participants find their space, directing floats as they leave/ return to the staging area, collecting waiver forms, distributing/ collecting float numbers, assisting with participant inquiries (day of parade; time commitment is flexible)
- Setup/ Teardown Volunteers- placing barricades, bagging parking meters, setup/ teardown of staging area (day before, day of, and/ or day after parade; time commitment is flexible)
Volunteers needed to help with special events, duties include
- Set up and take downs for events including barriers/ gates/ posters/ signs
- help with registration, security
- assisting with Perch Fest, Boat Festival, Santa Claus Parade, Folk festival and Canada Day
Volunteer duties vary depending on the placement and will be discussed prior to an interview.
