Autism Ontario, Grey Bruce
There are many opportunities to volunteer with Autism Ontario. Whether you are looking for something casual or something more committed, there is a volunteer role suited to you. There are four main areas in which you can volunteer with Autism Ontario:  
 
Administrative: help with mailings, thank you letters, grant writing, etc. 
 
Events: we run events year-round, which require volunteers to keep them running smoothly 
 
Committees: we have several ongoing and adhoc committees that meet during the year

Duties will depend on activities - mailing, promotion, calling members, participating in events i.e. fundraisers, and helping out with quarterly newsletter.

* Prepare grant applications and submit 
* Maintain deadlines while being highly organized

Canadian Cancer Society, Peterborough and District Community Office
Volunteers are needed to assist at the reception desk at the Peterborough office. Duties include answering phones, assisting people that come in to the office, adminstrative work and prepping mail. 
 
Volunteers must be comfortable on the phones and using a computer.

Animal Care   Northumberland County 
Northumberland Humane Society, Port Hope - Ward St, Animal Shelter

Volunteers will be working mainly with dogs and cats. They will be cleaning cages, feeding and watering the animals as well as giving the animals exercise. Volunteers will also be doing basic office duties. 
 
Volunteers can also help out with special events (fundraising events that take place throughout the year). These events include Golf Tournament, Animals R Us Festival, Pooch Patrol Walk-a-Thon, Open houses, Dog Baths, Adopt-a-Thons, selling raffle tickets, Make a Pet's Life Glow etc.
Grant Writer   Peterborough County 
Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre
Most work can be done from home, may meet occassionally with fundraising chair as required.
Up to 3 volunteers needed to assist KTTC Board members/Volunteer Coordinator with researching and writing funding proposals to fund-granting organizations. 
 
Volunteers who are accepted would work under a Lead who would coordinate their activities. Volunteers would work primarily on their own from their homes. Meetings would tend to be held by conference call though occasional live meetings can be expected. 
 
Volunteers will identify funding organizations that support projects related to: 
• Species-at-risk 
• Wildlife rehabilitation, conservation and education 
• Bio-diversity and the environment 
 
They will pre-qualify KTTC programs by reviewing the funder's requirements and funding proposal guidelines. The volunteer will then make recommendations to the Lead and they may be asked to draft funding proposals. Assistance and training on completing funding proposals will be available. 
 
Skills/Equipment Requirements 
• A computer with internet access. 
• Good attention to detail 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills 
• Self-directed. 
• Open to feedback 
 
Reporting Structure: 
The Grant Research and Proposal Subcommittee reports to the Fund-raising Committee through the Fund-raising Committee Chair.

Data-entry, faxing, assisting with special projects, office mail-outs, using the computer and other general office duties. Reception duties, answering phone calls and directing them to staff.

Research potential grants for the non-profit sector. Present appropriate grants possibilities to the LETS Board. Write and submit grant proposals.
