Since 1979, CONTACT Community Services has been listening to community needs and responding accordingly. CONTACT is a multifaceted social service agency and registered charity. Our mission is to be a proactive leader in South Simcoe providing responsive services in housing, employment and community support.

Today, our services are in high demand. Vulnerable individuals and families in Simcoe County are facing enormous pressures. Now, more than ever, it is critical CONTACT be well positioned to continue to meet the ever-changing needs of our rapidly growing communities. CONTACT has recently launched a rapid-rehousing project in Collingwood that supports unhoused seniors transition into long-term, permanent housing. We are seeking a Secretary who is part of the Collinwood community.
CONTACT Community Services is actively recruiting a Secretary Board Member with administrative experience from the Collingwood area to join our Board of Directors. The Board is a governance board, focused on oversight of the organization and its sustainability and relevance to the community.
We are looking for a resourceful, energetic individual who believes in our mission, is from the Collingwood community and who is willing to be active in their governance roles and in their role as secretary.
In addition to the Board Member Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the Secretary is responsible for:
- Planning and convening board meetings (including executive committee meetings)
- Preparing and distributing meeting agendas and materials
- Ensuring accurate recording of meeting minutes
- Maintain a record of board meeting decisions and actions
- Ensuring compliance with laws, regulations and governance standards
- Staying updated on changes in governance requirements
- Maintaining records of board member terms, assisting in orientation for new board members and maintain records of board membership
- Maintaining supporting documentation for governance processes and all meetings
The Board of Directors is responsible for the organization's financial well-being and accountability as well as ensuring that our activities are consistent with our mission. The operations of the organization is the responsibility of the Executive Director.

Board Commitment:
The Board meets at least eight times a year over Teams and generally takes the summer months off (as well as December, although this fluctuates based on need). Board Members are expected to participate in occasional activities such as fundraisers, board subcommittees (when required), and participation in email discussions (only when in-person or virtual discussion is not possible).
Meetings are held virtually, ensuring accessibility for all Board members located throughout a large region. Board meetings are often not more than one hour in length, given members are expected to have reviewed the Board report beforehand.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- To uphold resolutely the interest of CONTACT Community Services, avoiding conflicts of interest in personal or other business.
- To maintain the confidentiality of restricted Board information.
- To be open to serving as an active member on at least one board appointed committee (if possible).
- To attend Board and committee meetings on a regular and timely basis, with a full understanding of the agenda and accompanying package. All materials are circulated in advance to allow for ample time for member review. The ED encourages any member to reach out for clarification prior to the meeting to help support efficiency at the meetings.
- To conduct Board business in a businesslike manner.
- To be an active participant in all Board issues, providing a positive influence; open to change and creative problem solving.
- To interact with all other Board members with respect and dignity.
Skills and Abilities of Individual Board Members:
- Experience in the field or lived experience related to the organization’s mission and purpose.
- Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of board governance: policy, finance, programs, legal, personnel, and advocacy.
- Experience with strategic planning and organizational development.
- History and knowledge of the Collingwood community.
- Experience with communications, branding and/or philanthropy.
Other Important Considerations for Context:
- The organization works collaboratively with numerous stakeholders, including, but not exclusive to: municipalities, housing services providers (including shelters, VAW shelters, transitional housing), mental health services, and multiple funders (County of Simcoe, provincial and federal government, etc), other social service supports (Ontario WORKS, ODSP, food banks).

The Support Group Facilitator plays a critical role in the delivery of support services at community level. Once a month, they create a confidential and welcoming in-person or virtual space, where people living with Parkinson’s and/or their care partners can share their experiences and develop supportive relationships in a group setting.
As a Support Group Facilitator, you bring a keen desire to make a difference in the lives of people affected by Parkinson’s. Your empathetic approach, enthusiasm for learning, and ability to facilitate discussion about issues related to Parkinson’s are key factors in ensuring that monthly support groups are safe spaces. Key tasks may include:
- Meeting preparation, including reaching out to new members, sending pre-meeting reminders to members, and sharing resources to members
- Managing logistical aspects of the meetings, set-up and take-down of the room, and providing technical support if virtual
- aking attendance and keeping brief notes, sending to staff contact after meeting
- Guiding conversations and making sure everyone has a chance to share
- Sending meeting follow-up emails to group
- Forwarding messages to group members
- Facilitate a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment
- When possible, attend development sessions
Overview & Impact: The Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS) seeks passionate, driven volunteers to play a vital role in supporting our ambitious capital campaign. Volunteers will specialize in one of four fundraising areas: Family Foundations, Corporate Giving, Major Donors, or Community Gifts. These roles involve identifying, qualifying, and engaging potential supporters to help GTHS achieve its fundraising goals for the Regional Centre for Pets and People, which will significantly impact animal welfare in our community and region.
Position Summary: Reporting to the Associate Director, the Legacy Leader: Capital Campaign Fundraising Volunteer is a high-impact role that requires commitment, resourcefulness, and resilience. The Associate Director will provide comprehensive training, ongoing support, and resources to empower volunteers in this rewarding journey to raise funds for our new facility. Volunteers will work remotely and/or local to the Georgian Triangle area.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Core Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Associate Director to develop a strategic approach to your designated fundraising area
- Research and build a prospect list of individuals, organizations, or entities aligned with your focus area
- Qualify prospects through initial outreach and engagement, determining their interest and capacity to give
- Assist in crafting personalized approaches to solicit contributions, including emails, letters and in-person meetings
- Maintain accurate records of outreach efforts, progress and outcomes.
- Participate in training sessions, strategy discussions and regular check-ins to refine approaches and stay motivated
- Serve as an ambassador for GTHS, passionately articulating the impact of the capital campaign
Specific Role Descriptions (based on selected area of focus)
1. Family Foundations Volunteer
Focus on engaging family foundations with a history of supporting animal welfare, community development, or local causes
- Research and identify family foundations with a philanthropic focus that aligns with GTHS’s mission
- Build connections with foundation representatives and prepare compelling proposals highlighting the campaign’s impact
- Assist in coordinating meetings or presentations to secure commitments
2. Corporate Giving Volunteer
Engage corporate partners to secure sponsorships and significant contributions
- Identify businesses and corporations within the Georgian Triangle and beyond that may have an interest in supporting GTHS
- Develop creative strategies to align corporate giving goals with campaign objectives, including sponsorship opportunities and naming rights
- Build relationships with decision-makers, HR leads and corporate social responsibility (CSR) representatives
3. Major Donors Volunteer
Focus on cultivating relationships with high-net-worth individuals passionate about animal welfare and/or community development
- Research potential major donors with a history of philanthropy in the region or related causes
- Work with GTHS leadership to personalize outreach, highlighting donor recognition opportunities
- Assist in coordinating one-on-one meetings or events to inspire significant gifts
4. Community Gifts Volunteer
Encourage grassroots contributions from the community, fostering broad-based support
- Develop strategies to engage local groups, clubs, schools and individual community members
- Create and support community-driven initiatives, like peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns or local events
- Help manage outreach efforts through social media, community newsletters and public engagement opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 18 years of age minimum
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to research, organize and track donor prospects effectively
- Enthusiasm for relationship-building and storytelling
- Resilience and optimism to navigate challenges and celebrate wins
- Embodies the organization’s values and has a genuine interest in the welfare of animals
- Own transportation, laptop and cell phone

You can help reduce social isolation in the community by helping to maintain a calendar of activities for older adults. All you need is a phone, a computer with internet access and a little time.
What you will be doing:
- Monitoring websites and social media accounts of community centres, senior centres and libraries for public activities appropriate for older adults.
- Ocassionally calling organizations that offer social activities for older adults to get accurate information about their offerings.
- Entering these events on a Google calendar that is posted on our website for public viewing.

Our valued and dedicated volunteer team is the strength of Crime Stoppers of Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka. Citizens who join our locally focused committees participate in activities and events to promote public awareness and knowledge of the Crime Stoppers program, the Tip Line, and how we ensure anonymity. Committees meet once each month or as needed. Committee volunteers are encouraged to liaise with various leaders within their community to build relationships with all stakeholder groups.
Each committee is led by a Chair Person and has a representative who sits on the Board of Directors. Committees create and execute awareness and/or fund raising events that they feel reflect the personality and character of their local community.
Crime Stoppers of Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka committees are currently located in Barrie, Southern Georgian Bay (Midland and Penetanguishene), South Simcoe (Innisfil and Bradford), Dufferin (Orangeville), Muskoka, Georgian Triangle (Wasaga Beach and Collingwood), Orillia and Muskoka (Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and Huntsville) If you would like to join one of these we would welcome the opportunity to talk with you!
The Board of Directors is comprised of a cross-section of volunteers who govern the overall operations of Crime Stoppers. Reward payments are authorized by the Board of Directors. The Board creates and ensures adherence to Policy & Procedures as well as our By-Laws, and executes some fund raising events.
