Responsibilities:

·       Pick up and manage box orders (Teeswater Public Library order location), collect payments, complete payment to Grey Bruce Good Food Box or deposit at TD            Bank location

·       Be local contact-phone, or email management

·       Manage customer inquiries

·       Submit order to supplier- 1 week in advance (by third Friday)

·       Ensure only boxes that have been paid for or a token has been received for are ordered

·       Remind customers of order deadlines (orders in by third Thursday of the month) and pick up date and time (Pick up fourth Thursday of the month) Runs from            September through June

·       Coordinate volunteer packers for delivery day (fourth Thursday of the month)

·       Manage the set up of tables to sort and pack produce into boxes, clean up of host site and disposal of cardboard

·       Greet customers and record as boxes are picked up, take any pre-orders for following month

·       Complete monthly reports and bank deposit-send report, bank deposit receipt and cheque made out to Grey Bruce Good Food Box, any tokens received and          copy of supplier invoice to United Way by both mail AND send a copy/photo by email to food@unitedwaybg.com

·       Keep records of orders, pre-orders, and token use

·       Promote program within community (social media, word of mouth)

 

The position requires:

·       12-15 hours per month with most of those being put in on delivery day

·       Enjoy working with people in the community

·       Well organized and able to keep records (computer skills an asset)

·       Cash handling and financial record keeping

·       Availability to be on site for delivery day

·       Some lifting may be required of produce on delivery day

  • Work with a team of volunteers to sort fruits and vegetables into individual orders
  • Handle food gently and hygienically, and arrange the boxes for maximum appeal
  • Assist with packing site set-up and clean-up

This volunteer opportunity is available in July and August of each year in preparation for the school year in September. 
 
Assist in 'stuffing' backpacks with back to school supplies, based on the age and gender of the recipient.

*Hanover is also in need of a new location (publically accessible building) to run the program.
