Barrie Public Library is currently seeking volunteers to assist with children's programs over the summer break. Responsibilities depend on programs offered but may include:

- Assisting children during programs to complete activities and/or crafts

Title: Bunny Maker Volunteer

If you’re a crocheter or knitter, join our community of Bunny Makers for a good cause! Bunny Makers meet monthly to chat and knit/crochet together from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm at Bridget’s Bunnies office (65 Cedar Pointe Dr., unit 811A, Barrie). This is also a time to refresh knitting/crocheting supplies and continue crocheting in the comfort of your own home. Bunny Maker volunteers make Pocket Pals, crocheted or knitted bunnies for our Comfort Kit program. All materials are provided to you for free, and we ask that finished bunnies and unused materials be donated back to Bridget’s Bunnies. 

Hours: 2-10 hours a month (flexible)

•    Crochet or knit a bunny/pocket pal according to Bridget’s Bunnies patterns and instructions

Reporting to the Development Coordinator, the Comfort Kit Organizer is responsible for organizing, assembling and tracking Comfort Kits. Comfort Kits are provided for free to individuals and families who experience pregnancy or infant loss. They offer gentle direction and compassion in the days and weeks following loss. On-demand Comfort Kits, ordered through the website, are processed and shipped within a 2-week period. Hospital Comfort Kits are processed and shipped quarterly. 

Hours: 2-4 hours a week; Tuesday – Thursday between the hours of 10:00 and 4:00 pm.

Bridget's Bunnies Pregnancy and Infant Loss Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors. Board members understand and demonstrate their commitment to Bridget's Bunnies' mission, vision, values, and programming to provide governance support. Board training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities and Job Duties:

  • Raise the profile of Bridget's Bunnies in the community, including representing Bridget's Bunnies at community events, relevant meetings, engaging own network of contacts, and with community partners, including healthcare workers

A Peer Supporter with Badge of Life Canada plays a crucial role in providing emotional and psychological support to Public Safety Personnel (police officers, firefighters, paramedics, correctional officers, nurses, military personnel) and their families who are experiencing operational stress injuries (OSI) such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Peer Supporters create a safe, confidential, and empathetic space for individuals to share their experiences, challenges, and feelings without judgment. Through lived experience and understanding, they help others navigate mental health challenges, build resilience, and find a path to recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer Emotional Support: Provide a non-judgmental and compassionate environment for individuals to express their feelings and challenges.
  • Active Listening: Use active listening skills to understand the concerns of participants, ensuring they feel heard and validated.
  • Share Lived Experience: Draw upon personal experiences in the public safety or military field (or from supporting a loved one in this field) to connect with participants, offering hope and encouragement.
  • Promote Mental Wellness Resources: Help participants access additional mental health resources and services as needed, including therapy, counseling, and Badge of Life Canada’s educational programs.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of all discussions and interactions in accordance with Badge of Life Canada's policies.
  • Collaborate with Professionals: Work closely with mental health professionals, facilitators, and the Badge of Life Canada team to ensure participants receive the best possible support.

Share your love of reading and comfort with Zoom meetings, by facilitating a small online book club for people with development disabilities.  This role promotes literacy, community interaction and building relationships.  

As a Book Club Facilitator you will manage the weekly Zoom meetings (admitting members, sharing screens, assigning cohosts etc.) as well as assign Individual readers, plan sessions and read some of the chosen text to/with the group.

This group usually focusses on one book per season and works slowly through chapters, reading together and discussing.

This group meets virtually every Tuesday from 6-7 pm, therefore the Facilitator would need to commit about 1.5 hours each Tuesday and perhaps an additional 30 - 60 minutes weekly for planning.

Position Overview: Community Circle Member

Community Circle Members play a vital role in advancing the Help is Here Campaign by engaging their local communities and networks. Working under the guidance of the Community Circle Chair, members help raise awareness, build relationships, and support fundraising efforts to ensure every victim in Simcoe County has access to immediate and compassionate support.

We are looking to fill 2 (maximum) positions in communities across Simcoe County to ensure geographical reach. Individuals need to be located in or able to travel to; Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Barrie, Alliston, Innisfil, Bradford, and Midland/Penetanguishene.

Responsibilities

●  Assist in the targeted identification of local fundraising opportunities where VSSC can be the ‘charity of choice’ (third-party) and corporate donors/sponsors aligned with the mission and values of VSSC.

●  Communicate and secure identified fundraising focusing on third-party and corporate donor/sponsor opportunities in support of VSSC.

●  Identify, secure and represent the Help is Here campaign using provided materials at local third-party events, outreach activities, and public functions independently or alongside VSSC staff.

●  Participate in recognition and gratitude of local third-party and corporate supporters.

●  Attend periodic Community Circle team meetings to report on activity, including successes and challenges.

As an Event Specialist you will be a part of creating memorable event experiences that support the campaign. As a member of one of our signature event committees (Gala, Crystal Classic, or Cornhole Tournament), you'll play a vital role in planning and executing events that raise awareness and funds for RVH. You'll also have the chance to attend third-party events, spreading awareness and networking with potential supporters. Your assistance in securing event sponsorships and auction items will contribute to the success of fundraising efforts. 

How you’ll work with the Foundation staff team: Event Specialists will work with the Events Officer as their main point of contact.

Bridget’s Bunnies is a charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families through the heartbreak of pregnancy and infant loss. We provide Comfort Kits, remembrance resources, and compassionate community care, ensuring no one walks this journey alone.

Bridget’s Bunnies is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer to assist with special events throughout the year, including community events and Bridget’s Bunnies fundraising events and activities. This role involves representing Bridget’s Bunnies brands throughout the Simcoe/Muskoka region.

 

Hours: Volunteers will be expected to participate in events throughout Simcoe/Muskoka as their schedule allows

Location: Simcoe/Muskoka Region

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent Bridget’s Bunnies professionally and positively at community events.
  • Assist with event setup, engagement, and teardown at third-party fundraising events, street fairs, and other promotional activities.
  • Provide information about Bridget’s Bunnies to the public and be comfortable speaking about Bridget’s Bunnies' mission and values.
  • Encourage community participation and fundraising efforts.
  • Work closely with event organizers and fellow volunteers to ensure a smooth event experience.
  • Transport promotional materials and event supplies to and from event locations.

Requirements:

  • Access to and use of a personal vehicle with valid insurance. (preferred)
  • Comfortable speaking with the public and engaging with event attendees.
  • Ability to lift and carry event materials as needed.
  • Availability to attend events in the Simcoe/Muskoka region
  • Passion for supporting those affected by pregnancy or infant loss.

As a dedicated Relationship Advisor of the campaign cabinet, you will make a significant impact on our ability to fulfill our campaign goals and be instrumental in identifying and connecting the Foundation team to potential donors who have the capacity to make substantial contributions. You'll participate in the various stages of the major gift pipeline, from cultivating relationships and assisting with solicitations to stewarding donors and expressing our gratitude for their support.

Volunteers will be responsable for meeting with a clients weekly or bi-weekly to add enrichment to peoples lives. Clients are blind or have vision loss to some degree, which often requires adpaments to life. Volunteers are required to socialse with them and add normal contact back in their lives after the effects of the pandemic. They can go for walks, visit community gardens, really anything the pair would enjoy. The requirement are up to the two people who are paired.
