The GTHS Animal Hospital contains an Operating Room, Treatment Room, Examination Room, Pharmacy, X-Ray Room and a Hospital Intake / Recovery Area, and provides spay/neuter surgeries for over 1500 homeless pets annually. Having an onsite hospital ensures animals receive timely, thorough and comprehensive care, saves dozens of daily phone calls, reduces trips back and forth to veterinary clinics, dramatically decreases the stress on the GTHS animals, and leads to the additional benefit of earlier adoption availability; so these animals find their forever home quickly.
The Hospital Discharge Volunteer is responsible for discharging animals to the public after their Hospital appointment / surgery, create kennel tags and preparing for the next day's appointments and overseeing the cleanliness of the small Hospital Intake Room.
Board Commitment:
The Board meets at least eight times a year and generally takes the summer months off (as well as December and January, although this fluctuates based on need). Board Members are expected to participate in occasional activities such as fundraisers, board subcommittees (when required), and participation in email discussions (only when in-person or virtual discussion is not possible).
Meetings are held virtually, ensuring accessibility for all Board members located throughout a large region. Board meetings are often not more than one hour in length, given members are expected to have reviewed the Board report beforehand.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· To resolutely uphold the interests of CONTACT Community Services, avoiding conflicts of interest in personal or other business.
· To maintain the confidentiality of restricted Board information.
· To be open to serving as an active member on at least one board appointed committee (if possible).

All materials are circulated in advance to allow for ample time for member review. Pregnancy and Infant Loss (PAIL) Network provides bereavement support at no cost to families who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy at any stage, or the death of their baby, up to 12 months of age. We currently have volunteer opportunities for people who are approximately two years past their bereavement date and are looking for meaningful ways to offer their support to others. We are actively training peer supporters for private online bereavement support groups and one-to-one phone support.
Exhibition / Event set up: There’s a lot to learn about hanging an exhibition and the curatorial practices in a professional gallery, which you could learn by assisting our director and the team as they carefully change exhibitions. These happen all year round so get in touch if you’d like to have valuable insight into what goes on behind-the-scenes! You can also help set-up displays for one of our varied fundraisers, which also involves teamwork and an attention to detail. You might also be asked to lift or carry items, depending on the event.
Reception and Greeting: An integral part of events at Quest is the welcoming face our visitors see when they first arrive. If you feel you are a friendly, welcoming person then you could assist us by greeting visitors, taking down their information or assisting with ticketing. This role requires someone well-presented and able to multi-task.
Workshop / Educational Support: There are many different workshops held at Quest Art School + Gallery, and off-site, to a wide variety of students. We offer classes to children, youth and adults of all skill levels. If you are curious, patient and eager to lend a hand, then you might be perfect assisting one of our instructors as they lead a workshop.
Off-Site Events: Quest Art, as a charitable organization, is often invited to a wide range of events in the Midland-Penetang’, and sometimes wider, region. The goal of VON’s SMART (Seniors Maintaining Active Roles Together)® Exercise and Falls Prevention program is to enable adults 55+ to maintain independence, improve quality of life and to ultimately promote healthy aging. This functional exercise program can be found in various communities throughout Grey-Bruce.
VON SMART and Falls Prevention classes are led by volunteers who VON trains (2 days of practical plus the theory) and certify. Weekly we offer over 50 Level 1 and Level 2 classes in Grey Bruce with over 1,000 participants! We ask for a minimum commitment of 2 hours a week (one class) but have flexible schedules for those who are away for long periods of time. We are looking for volunteer instructors for both levels of classes.

Canine Foster Volunteers provide a safe, loving and temporary home for puppies (4-6 puppies at a time), senior dogs and adult dogs with specific needs. You must have the ability to separate the foster animals from any pets in your home by keeping them in a separate room, if necessary. We will provide resources and all the supplies you need.
Canine Foster Volunteers are responsible for helping the puppies, seniors and / or adult dogs in their care thrive until they are ready to be adopted (or to be returned to their owner in cases of Emergency Boarding). This will include feeding the animals at least twice a day, possibly more, potty training (for puppies), and exercising and socializing the animals. It may also include bottle feeding (if caring for orphaned or struggling puppies) and administering oral medications.
We are ideally looking for volunteers who are willing to assist with more than one of the following foster scenarios:
- 4-6 puppies under 4 weeks of age, requiring bottle feeding
- 4-6 puppies over 4 weeks of age

Packing Orders: Receiving orders via our website, volunteers will pack up individual orders by their designated pick-up time. They must ensure that orders are packed up accurately and in a timely manner.
Driving: We need volunteers to drive to local partner stores to pick up donated food then drive it to our location in downtown Barrie (80 Bradford St Suite 601). The majority of the driving will be completed between the hours of 8:00am and 9:00am daily, with some occasional afternoon pick-ups as well.
Inventory: Using Shopify, volunteers and employees update the product inventory information. Quantities of items need to be maintained and product photos updated periodically.

Oversee the development of high-level financial policies and their review by the
board
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and its presentation to the board

IT Tech - Someone to create and maintain a social presence online to promote the organization and it's events.

Volunteer tutors are needed to help adults to improve their reading, writing, math and digital skills.
NOTE: We ask potential tutors to commit for one year so that they can come alongside a student for that length of time - once students make the decision to improve their skills, they need a tutor who is willing to work with them to increase not only their knowledge but their confidence and self esteem.
- Volunteers needed to prepare and serve simple meal to students, some schools bring food trays into classrooms.
- Volunteers needed to prepare trays for delivery to classes and also for clean up of kitchen area, help with grocery shopping or fundraising for food.
• Arrive at the Meal Source at the prearranged time.
• Deliver meals in the order they appear on the route sheet/book.
• Converse with client to check on client’s well being.
• Report any problems or concerns encountered in carrying out duties to Home and Community Support Services of Grey-Bruce.

This volunteer opportunity is available in July and August of each year in preparation for the school year in September.
Assist in 'stuffing' backpacks with back to school supplies, based on the age and gender of the recipient.
- Provide companionship and friendship to an isolated senior or adult living with a disability by making at-home or over-the-phone visits on a regular basis
- Assist clients with activities that they are no longer able to do by themselves and which are of interest to the client: reading, writing, playing cards/games

United Way of Bruce Grey has over 100 volunteers each year that participate in a variety of volunteer positions. They play an important role in helping us achieve our vision and mission.

With the dogs, this makes a big difference. We have some dogs that are with us for a while before finding a forever home so we try to have them handled by people they know as much as possible.
Provide emotional support to anyone grieving the loss of a loved one to death or palliative diagnosis.

Public speaking to groups of various sizes - giving an overview of Hospice Huronia, our services and our capital campaign to build a residential hospice for the area. Power point presentation is developed and scripted.
We are looking for 1/2 hour of music entertainment for our seniors. Weekly or monthly.
Our community based day program is attended by seniors with dementia.
Administrative: help with mailings, thank you letters, grant writing, etc.
Events: we run events year-round, which require volunteers to keep them running smoothly

Special Events and Outing Assistance
Volunteers act as coaches in weekly sport training sessions, working with athletes with an intellectual disability in a variety of sports. Youth Justice Committee's (YJC) bring together youth 12-17 who have been involved in the criminal justice system, their parent(s), and trained members of the community. In this role:
* you would attend YJC meetings to determine appropriate and meaningful ways for the youth to make amends for their actions.
* ensure that the youth is aware of the purpose of the meeting, and discuss police report information.
* explore perspectives of all parties, including the youth and others represented at t he meeting, such as community members, community agency representatives, and the parent(s).
* present and agree upon appropriate sanctions for the youth.
* provide information and referrals to supportive community agency programs.
* respect the confidentiality of the youth and other YJC members.
The Gilbert Centre's volunteer program is on hold due to COVID-19 until further notice. Volunteers assist with:
- Special events (World AIDS Day, Fundraisers, Annual campaigns)
- Bingo
- Harm Reduction
- Board of Directors
Volunteers would be responsible for stocking shelves, cleaning the store, re-organizing items, aseembling product, and assisting customers. Volunteers who are interested should visit the website to register to volunteer.
Volunteers must wear certified safety shoes, be capable of lifting up to 25lbs, able to stand for extended periods of time and be comfortable with 2-3 step instruction.

As a Bingo Volunteer, you are responsible for sharing the mission and values of the Ontario SPCA with participants at the Gaming Centre.
Responsibilities:
Be a positive role model, assist Bingo participants with the navigation of the e-bingo gaming consoles, share the organization's mission and how it benefits from each Bingo event, maintain a professional appearance, attitude and communication when representing the organization.
Occasional research into related issues.
Various Volunteer opportunities to include special events, garden, pottery, fairs ,cafe, mosaic studio

To deliver/pick-up materials from locations throughout Simcoe County.

Visiting residents residing in long term care, one-on-one. This can include walking with residents inside and outside the facility.

As part of our vision to see persons with dementia living well and thriving, this program seeks out ways to keep a person engaged within their home, while simlutaneously providing care partners with a little bit of respite.
Volunteers will conduct 1:1 weekly meaningful and social recreation visits with persons living with dementia. Volunteers will receive training and support from In-Home Recreation Coordinator as well as an outline of suggested activities. They will also have flexibilty to plan activities that best meet the client's needs.
Weekly visits are 1.5 hours in length and a 6 month committment is appreciated.
Your role is to offer one-on-one accepting, non-judgmental listening presence at one of our partner sites throughout the community. Shifts are 1.5 - 2 hours long. We have spaces at some of our partner sites such as Downtown Library, Painswick Library, Busby Centre, Elizabeth Fry Society, Breakfast to Go, Lucy's Place, CMHA, or seniors residences.
Providing first Aid support at local community events.
Assist with participant pre-evaluations and assessments
Help with the set up and clean up of refreshments, games and activities
Assist Minds in Motion Coordinator to ensure activity participation and socialization
Under direction of the Physical Activity Program Leader, provide one-on-one support to participants during physical activity component of the program
Assist with any other required task

Special Events Volunteers ensure the effective implementation of Special Events Initiatives within the area. Duties include: promoting events, liaising with all community partners, recruit new groups and organizations to carry out activities, locating sponsors, etc.
Mentor girls as they explore new challenges, develop ready-for-anything skills, and take on new challenges, in a safe and supportive atmosphere during weekly meetings and optional outings and camps. A Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required and provided free of charge. Two references and an interview are part of the screening process.

Volunteer Drivers
Our volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to provide an invaluable service by assisting staff and foster families with the transportation needs of children in the care of SMFC. Volunteer drivers transport children and their families to various appointments such as access visits, medical appointments and schools throughout Muskoka and the Simcoe County region at the request of the Agency. Punctuality and reliability are a necessity for this position. Our drivers are compensated a fair rate per kilometre.
Volunteer in our retail shop, deliver snacks to schools, singsong and party support at seniors centres and so much more.

We are also in need of volunteers to assist individuals with a developmental disability in being part of their community. e.g. going to Sports Plex,YMCA, library, and other community locations. You would assist individuals at their volunteer jobs in other non-profit locations.
