SevernWe are looking for people who are interested in visiting with seniors in a long-term care home who do not have local family or friends that are able to visit often, providing friendship, conversation, and reassurance. Position Summary: Assists with providing meaningful contributions to the residents and the Home under the direction of the Coordinator of Volunteer Services. Core Competencies:

Qualifications:
- A sincere interest in the general well-being of the residents in the Home.
- Comfort working in a communal setting for seniors.
- Physically able to push wheelchairs, move tables (with assistance) etc. (if applicable)
- Good listening skills
- Ability to follow directions and work with others
Our Adult Day Program offers socialization, recreation and support for older adults living with dementia, chronic illnesses or mobility challenges.
- Volunteers play a valuable role in creating a fun, safe and engaging day for our participants
- We are looking for musicians or people to help with crafts, games, socialization, or support for the lunch program
- Provide regular visits to assigned older adult clients, offering companionship, conversation & engagement in meaningful activities
- Perform regular outbound phone calls to assigned older adult clients
- Report any health or safety concerns to the Supervisor
- Provide monthly activity reports to Supervisor
Help Senior Wish expand into Simcoe County to ensure that no senior is left isolated, alone and feeling like society has forgotten them. Help is especially needed to prepare for our Christmas Wish program starting in September.
Volunteer for our many projects such as:
- Granting Wishes for Seniors
- Christmas Bag of Love program
- Memory book program
- general good deeds for Senior
- Empathetic listeners who are able to provide inclusive, non-judgmental support to callers representing a variety of ages, identities, and concerns
- Call centre operates 24/7, and we actively recruit both day and night shifts.
- Day shifts are 4 hours
Volunteers required for assisting at activity programs:
- Special events
- Outings
- Meal assistance
- Friendly visiting
- Transporting residents to and from programs
- Simcoe Cycling Without Age
- Entertainment/Music
- Cook, bake, gardening
- Activities with residence
- Supporting with activities of daily living
- Attending activities, programs, and/or events with residents
- One-on-one visits with residents; spending time chatting, playing card games, doing puzzles, crafts
- Accompanying them on walks either within the building or outdoors (weather permitting)
- Miscellaneous duties as needed

Be trained to conduct education sessions on fracture prevention to seniors at seniors centres, retirement homes and active living programs.

We are always searching for individuals or groups to come in and provide entertainment to our clients for our adult day program providing social recreational and therapeutic activities for seniors and adults who are frail, cognitively impaired, and/or isolated, and/or physically challenged.
Volunteers will be responsable for meeting with a clients weekly or bi-weekly to add enrichment to peoples lives. Clients are blind or have vision loss to some degree, which often requires adpaments to life. Volunteers are required to socialse with them and add normal contact back in their lives after the effects of the pandemic. They can go for walks, visit community gardens, really anything the pair would enjoy. The requirement are up to the two people who are paired.
