Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey Bruce & West Simcoe (BBBSGBWS) is seeking energetic, dedicated volunteers to join our growing organization. We are a non-profit charity, providing mentorship services to youth ages 6-18 in both schools and communities. As a vibrant, collaborative, community-focused organization we believe in creating communities where young people belong and are empowered to unlock their potential.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Community-Based Volunteer
- Join us as a Mentor in our community-based volunteer program. Connect with a local youth (ages 6-18) in your community. Spend one hour a week engaging in fun, skill-building activities and make an impact! (One year commitment)
School-Based Volunteer
- School-based volunteers spend one hour weekly connecting with a group of Mentees (ages 6-16) within the school environment. Mentors are provided with programming that supports educational success. Join us as a school-based Mentor and make an impact! (Four month commitment)
Group-Based Volunteer
- Group program volunteers support the BBBSGBWS team in a variety of unique settings, including our Outdoor Wellness Program, Youth Council meetings and Big Bunch events. This position is great for students. (Flexible commitment)
Agency Volunteer
- With the BBBSGBWS team engage in fundraising support and be a BBBSGBWS brand ambassador. Join our team at local youth events, connect with children, youth, families and make an impact!

The GTHS Cat Care Team reports to the Cat Care Coordinator. Whereas Cat Care Team Members are usually assigned a specific room (an Adoptions Room or a Quarantine / Isolation Room), this Cat Care Team Member will provide all-round Cat Care support, based on day-to-day needs. This volunteer will be assigned to Quarantine / Isolation Room 4 (which is used sporadically for cats who are sick and aren’t quite ready for adoption), but may be directed to assist in Room 3 if no cats are in Room 4. When no assistance is required in either Quarantine / Isolation Room, this Team Member will support volunteers in the Adoption Rooms. Responsibilities include providing nutrition, as well as mental and physical stimulation or interaction, to the feline residents in Room 4 and/or other areas they are assisting within. All Cat Care Team Members are responsible for sweeping and mopping the floor, dishes, laundry, and maintaining clean and organized litter, feeding stations, kitten / cat kennels and communal areas.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintain clean and organized litter, kennels, counter tops and communal areas (shelving, windows, etc.)
- Disinfect toys (loose and in kennels), scratching posts, wooden boxes, climbing apparatus, etc.
- Feed cats / kittens wet food (as appropriate), provide fresh water and maintain feeding stations
- Wash up any dirty animal dishes
- Perform laundry tasks (gather dirty laundry and assist with washing, drying and folding linens)
- Dispose of garbage and recyclables
- Wipe all surfaces after use
- When not working out of Room 4:
- Assist in Room 3, upon assignment by Cat Care Coordinator
- Liaise with Adoption Room Team Members to assist where needed
- Assist the Cat Care Coordinator with ad hoc needs
- As required / upon request:
- Place cats ready for ‘moving up’ into carriers
- Carry cats in carriers to the appropriate room / kennel
- Weigh cats with assistance from the Cat Care Coordinator
- Clean floors in the Animal Kitchen
- Interact with cats for socialization and enrichment purposes
- Stimulate and interact with cats (includes grooming, play and snuggles)
- Reduce cat stress and improve their overall wellness
- Provide cognitive stimulation and encourage curiosity
- Provide places for cats to hide and perch, as appropriate
- Stimulate cats’ hunting instinct
- Make enrichment items (food puzzles, cat cabins…)
- Identify and report any behavioural concerns
- Follow appropriate protocol, policies and procedures
- Use online Contact List & Schedule to reflect any absences and to coordinate shift coverage
Emergency Boarding Foster Volunteers provide a safe, loving and temporary home for pets whose owners cannot currently look after them due to an emergency situation (in hospital, rehabilitation or escaping from domestic violence). Boarding is provided for dogs or cats, based on the species you decide upon, and will range from 1-6 months. You must have the ability to separate the foster animal from any pets in your home by keeping them in a separate room, if necessary. We will provide training and all the supplies you need.
In 2023, our Animal Care Team looked after more than 1500 animals onsite and, thanks to our Foster Volunteers, 1044 additional cats and dogs were cared for in loving foster homes.
Description
Emergency Boarding Foster Volunteers are responsible for helping the cat/dog in their care thrive until they are ready to be reclaimed by their owner. This will include feeding the animals at least twice a day, possibly more, cleaning litter boxes (for cats), exercising (for dogs) and socializing the animals. It may also include administering oral medications.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintain clean and tidy environment
- Provide treats, food, clean water and clean bedding as required
- Clean and change kitty litter, as required
- Bathe and groom dog, as necessary and if comfortable doing so
- Provide a structured and loving environment
- Assist in the maintenance of the animal’s health and welfare (includes exercise for dogs)
- Administer medication, as required and as instructed
- Ensure any veterinary appointments are kept
- Ensure animal is safe and secure
- Return animal to GTHS Animal Centre upon request

In the absence of any federal or provincial government funding, the GTHS organizes multiple events annually to raise much-needed funds. We are seeking talented, outgoing and passionate individuals who can help us reach our fundraising goals and, in turn, support thousands of homeless animals.
This is NOT a traditional fundraising role – our Fundraising Committee Members use their unique talents and interests to make our events a success (and thereby help us raise funds). Our ‘signature’ events planned for 2025 are Walk for Pets – June 14, Golf for Pets – July 7 and the Furball Gala – October 18.
As a result of as our programs and services, every year more than 1500 homeless cats and dogs are provided shelter, 1300 animals find a new home, 4000 youth are positively impacted, approximately 3000 spay/neuter/dental/specialized surgeries are performed, and in excess of 1000 pets are supported through our Pet Pantry program.

Fundraising Committee Members have drive, passion and ideas to support the implementation and success of our events – all while having fun! Each Committee Member will assume specific roles and responsibilities based on their strengths (for example: marketing, networking, people management, fundraising, sourcing…), and will be involved from inception and initial planning, all the way through to execution of the event itself and post-event activities. Bring your strengths but be prepared to pitch in! Members will provide progress updates at committee meetings so, as a team, we can evaluate where we are and realign when necessary; to ensure the success of our events. Committee members may also be expected to develop existing and potential sponsor / donor relationships.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Attend regular committee meetings (in-person and/or via Zoom or Teams)
- Participate in event development from inception through completion
- Activities (as determined as part of an Action Plan) based on each Committee Member’s experience and skill set, and event needs
- Assist with event set-up and take down
- Attend full event to assist where needed
- Engage in post-event wrap activities
- Provide event stewardship (thank you calls, cards, etc.) in the days immediately following the event
The GTHS believes that pets deserve to stay with their families regardless of logistical or financial challenges faced by their parents.
Access to Care programs support pets and their families through programs that work to make veterinary care more accessible, help battle food insecurity and provide temporary housing during crisis.
The GTHS Pet Pantry Program, established in 2020, is a donation-based program aimed to ensure that pet food is more accessible for individuals and families who are in need. In 2023, the GTHS supported approximately 1,000 pets through the Pet Pantry Program and distributed 28,000 meals in the community.
Last year, the Pet Pantry Program expanded to include 9 Community Depots in various locations: in Collingwood, The Town of the Blue Mountains, Wasaga Beach and Clearview Township. The service is strictly confidential.

Reporting to the Community Programs Supervisor, the Pet Pantry Volunteer is responsible for repackaging and/or collecting pet food and supplies from the Animal Centre for delivery to local Pet Pantry depots or pet owners’ homes, to assist members of our community who are temporarily unable to provide the day-to-day necessities for their pets. Pet Pantry bagging takes place on an as needed basis, and deliveries take place on Tuesdays and on Fridays.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Liaise with Customer Service Coordinator and Community Program Supervisor for inbound pet food deliveries, Pet Pantry supplies required and delivery locations
- Maintain tidy and organized Pet Pantry shelves
- Restock shelves from supplies in garage and/or container, as appropriate
- Repackage pet food into 1kg Zip Lock bags
- Source supplies and load vehicle at Animal Centre
- Exercise judgement and accurately select supplies requested
- Ensure items are properly stored/secured during transportation
- Deliver supplies to Pet Pantry depots and/or pet owners
- Meet pet owners at street level
- Ensure contactless delivery during pandemic
- Provide friendly, non-judgemental, quality customer service
- Promote additional Outreach programs and services, as appropriate
- Ensure any appropriate documentation is available and/or signed
- Maintain clean and tidy GTHS van (inside and outside), if used

Overview & Impact: The Food Fairy is integral to maintaining the welfare of our cats and kittens. This position starts early in the morning to ensure that all feline residents have finished eating prior to the Cat Care Team coming onsite to prepare the Adoption Rooms for the day and in readiness for any medications to be administered. In 2023, our Cat and Dog Care Teams cared for more than 1500 animals onsite at our Animal Centre.
Description: The GTHS Food Fairy reports to the Cat Care Coordinator and ensures that all kittens and cats in the building are fed. Other duties include topping up water, washing food dishes, tidying, record keeping as necessary and following the feeding chart accurately.
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week. This position can start any time from 6am, for duties to be concluded by 8am. A minimum commitment of 6 months is required.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Feed cats and kittens in Adoption Rooms, Lobby and Isolation / Quarantine Rooms appropriate wet food (based on dietary requirements) or remove food, as appropriate

Pride Collingwood is BACK! July 11th & 12th
Celebrate community, connection, and love at Pride Collingwood 2025. Together, we’re building a more inclusive South Georgian Bay.
This year, we are looking for over 60 volunteers to help us set-up and support the event. We are recruiting for roles ranging for each interest, skill, and ability.

We are bringing on several high school youth to join Season 5 of our Food Leader Interview Series! Our youth Interviewers conduct virtual video interviews with professionals working in our food systems (aka Canadian food leaders). This role is responsible for participating in virtual training sessions, designing interview questions, communicating with their selected Interviewee, and carrying out an interview over Zoom.
No prior experience is required! You must currently be a high school student or of high school age (14-19).
Our goal is to provide a flexible and self-driven atmosphere where you’re free to explore your interests, gain new skills, and ultimately contribute to an important youth-driven project to inspire and educate youth about agri-food careers!
Wiidookdaadiwin is a lookout site built to honour and acknowledge Indigenous and settler relations in Simcoe County. There are Indigenous plantings and story boards in both Ojibway and Engish, and a tremendous vistia lookout of Georgian Bay and the region.
We are looking for summer volunteers to assist with daily operations such as opening and closing the site. This will require the volunteer to have a car and ideally live locally. Volunteers will also be required to particiapte in special events such as the official grand opening in June, 2025. Further terms and dates for these roles are negotiable. We are looking for 3-5 volunteers for the summer from May to September, 2025.

Overview:
A Peer Supporter with Badge of Life Canada plays a crucial role in providing emotional and psychological support to Public Safety Personnel (police officers, firefighters, paramedics, correctional officers, nurses, military personnel) and their families who are experiencing operational stress injuries (OSI) such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Peer Supporters create a safe, confidential, and empathetic space for individuals to share their experiences, challenges, and feelings without judgment. Through lived experience and understanding, they help others navigate mental health challenges, build resilience, and find a path to recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer Emotional Support: Provide a non-judgmental and compassionate environment for individuals to express their feelings and challenges.
- Active Listening: Use active listening skills to understand the concerns of participants, ensuring they feel heard and validated.
- Share Lived Experience: Draw upon personal experiences in the public safety or military field (or from supporting a loved one in this field) to connect with participants, offering hope and encouragement.
- Promote Mental Wellness Resources: Help participants access additional mental health resources and services as needed, including therapy, counseling, and Badge of Life Canada’s educational programs.
- Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of all discussions and interactions in accordance with Badge of Life Canada's policies.
- Collaborate with Professionals: Work closely with mental health professionals, facilitators, and the Badge of Life Canada team to ensure participants receive the best possible support.
- Provide Crisis Intervention: Recognize signs of crisis in participants and, if necessary, escalate the situation to appropriate professionals for further intervention.
Training and Support:
Badge of Life Canada provides comprehensive training to all Peer Supporters. Our training program equips you with the tools and skills needed to effectively support individuals dealing with operational stress injuries. This includes training in:
- Active listening techniques
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation
- Recognizing signs of OSI and PTSD
- Confidentiality and ethical boundaries
- Best practices for peer support in a public safety context
Ongoing support and supervision will be provided to ensure Peer Supporters have access to guidance and resources while serving in their roles.
Qualifications:
- Lived experience as a Public Safety Personnel, military member, or as a family member of someone in these roles.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to actively listen.
- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude.
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Willingness to participate in all required training sessions.
Commitment:
Peer Supporters are asked to dedicate time to facilitate or participate in peer support meetings, either virtually or in person, on a regular basis (typically weekly or bi-weekly). Flexibility in schedule is important, as meetings may vary depending on participant needs.

The Web Developer/Manager would assist in the ongoing maintenance and update of the Nature League web site that has been developed. Work would include: adding walk and hike schedules, newsletters, pictures and notices to the website for public and membership viewing; and Identifying needed improvements and marketing advantages. The volunteer should have an excellent knowledge of web design and development in order to help the organization promote itself on the web for greater community participation in the many opportunities presented by a membership. Initial attendance at one or two Board Meetings would be required to understand the organization and meet Board Members. Otherwise, contact will be done through the President or Corporate Secretary who has the final approval on all updates etc before posting on the web site.

Cat Care & Centre Volunteers report to the Cat Care Coordinator (CCC) and liaise with their teammates to share the afternoon routine and duties. Shared responsibilities include ensuring our Animal Centre is clean and tidy, rooms and carts are fully stocked, and feline residents receive mental and physical stimulation in addition to food and clean litter.

Approximately 3 hours per week. This position starts at 1pm until approximately 4pm. A minimum commitment of 6 months is required.

- Coordinate with fellow Cat Care & Centre Volunteers to share the afternoon’s routine and duties, including rotating responsibility for ‘front of house’ and ‘back of house’
- Cleaning and tidying:
- Communal areas’ surfaces and floors are cleaned, tidied and disinfected (communal areas = Volunteer Cubby and Desk, Animal Kitchen, Human Kitchen, lunchroom, hallways and washrooms)
- Medical Intake Room floors are swept and mopped
- Hallway carts are sanitized

- Dishes (wash up dirty animal dishes, load / empty dishwasher)

- Ensure post-surgical cats’ kennels are set back up once each cat has safely recovered from anesthesia

The Cat Care Team works to increase the welfare and health of GTHS feline residents. The Cat Care Team works as a group and/or individually to care for our cats and maintains high cleanliness standards in our Adoption Rooms, as well as our Quarantine and Isolation Rooms. This role is integral to maintaining a bright, clean and healthy environment for our cats, kittens, volunteers, visitors and potential adopters. Playing with and cuddling the cats is required!

The GTHS Cat Care Team reports to the Cat Care Coordinator and Cat Care Team Members are assigned a specific room (an Adoptions Room or a Quarantine / Isolation Room) to provide nutrition, as well as mental and physical stimulation or interaction, to the feline residents in their room. Cat Care Team Members are also responsible for sweeping and mopping the floor, maintaining clean and organized litter, feeding stations, kitten or cat kennels and communal areas. Other duties such as dishes and laundry are also included.
Time Commitment
2-3 hours per week. A minimum commitment of 6 months is required (unless approved for student / community hours). Shift times are: 8-11am
Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintain clean and organized litter, kennels, counter tops and communal areas (shelving, windows, etc.) in the assigned room(s)
- Disinfect toys (loose and in kennels), scratching posts, wooden boxes, climbing apparatus, etc. in the assigned room
- Feed cats / kittens wet food (as appropriate), provide fresh water and maintain feeding stations
- Wash up any dirty animal dishes
- Perform laundry tasks (gathering dirty laundry in sacks if assigned to Room 3, and all Team Members assist with washing, drying and folding linens)
- Dispose of garbage and recyclables
- Wipe all surfaces after use
- Tasks specific to the room assigned include:
- Wiping surfaces and floors in the Animal Kitchen, as necessary
- Placing cats ready for ‘moving up’ into carriers
- Carrying cats in carriers to the appropriate Adoptions Room / kennel
- Weighing cats (if specified on Kennel Cards), with assistance from the Cat Care Coordinator as required
- Interact with cats for socialization and enrichment purposes
- Adapt activities based on cats being interacted with
- Stimulate and interact with cats (includes grooming, play and snuggles)
- Reduce cat stress and improve their overall wellness
- Provide cognitive stimulation and encourage curiosity
- Provide places for cats to hide and perch, as appropriate
- Stimulate cats’ hunting instinct
- Make enrichment items (food puzzles, cat cabins…)
- Identify and report any behavioural concerns

The Georgian Triangle Humane Society is a not-for-profit charity that provides abandoned, neglected and abused domestic animals a second chance in life at a forever home. The Adoptions Team facilitates the adoption and subsequent retention of approximately 1300 homeless animals annually, and the Dog Adoption Counselor contributes towards this success by answering any questions about dog ownership, the adoption process and the dogs and puppies available for adoption. This role is integral to matching the right dog (personality type, energy level, special home requirements, etc.) with the right adopter.
Description
Reporting to the Adoptions Coordinator, the Dog Adoption Counselor prepares adoption kits, answers questions about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption and conducts ‘Meet & Greets’ with our dogs and potential adopters. The Dog Adoption Counselor also assists with the completion of adoption applications and facilitates the adoption.

Reporting to the Director of Medicine and Hospital Registered Veterinary Technician, the Hospital Assistant Volunteer will be responsible for maintaining the Operating Room and prep area, as well as overseeing the maintenance and packing of surgical instruments.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Wash / sterilize surgical instruments (by hand and / or using the autoclave)
- Make up surgical packs in line with the next day’s surgeries

Reporting to the Dog Care Coordinator, AM Dog Care Volunteers help to maintain the health and welfare of GTHS dogs. This role entails taking care of our dogs’ environment by cleaning their kennels and outdoor runs, and being responsible for food preparation and feeding our dogs their breakfast. If interested and when time permits, AM Dog Care Volunteers interact with our dogs by assisting with our Canine Enrichment Program.

Community volunteers are trained to work as part of a team to assist victims of crime or tragedy by providing emotional support, practical assistance and community referrals. Support can be on-site or by phone. Referrals are from police and community agencies.
- Driving a wheelchair accessible vehicle for members of the community who, because of their need for a wheelchair, aren't able to use other transportation.
- Pick up clients and their escort at assigned time, deliver to their destination.
- Keep a schedule for appointments.
- Use provided equipment to ensure driver and client safety.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss (PAIL) Network provides bereavement support at no cost to families who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy at any stage, or the death of their baby, up to 12 months of age. We currently have volunteer opportunities for people who are approximately two years past their bereavement date and are looking for meaningful ways to offer their support to others. We are actively training peer supporters for private online bereavement support groups and one-to-one phone support.
Exhibition / Event set up: There’s a lot to learn about hanging an exhibition and the curatorial practices in a professional gallery, which you could learn by assisting our director and the team as they carefully change exhibitions. These happen all year round so get in touch if you’d like to have valuable insight into what goes on behind-the-scenes! You can also help set-up displays for one of our varied fundraisers, which also involves teamwork and an attention to detail. You might also be asked to lift or carry items, depending on the event.
Reception and Greeting: An integral part of events at Quest is the welcoming face our visitors see when they first arrive. Volunteers are matched to clients who are living with a life-limiting illness. They support and comfort their client and the client's circle of support. Be it family or friends. The goal is to be flexible and assist someone on this journey with whatever they might require. It could be physical, but usually, it is emotional support and advocacy. Once the match has been made, the client and the volunteer set a time schedule that is good for both. Volunteers assist with general office duties, assist members and program support.
Be trained to conduct education sessions on fracture prevention to seniors at seniors centres, retirement homes and active living programs.
Volunteers act as coaches in weekly sport training sessions, working with athletes with an intellectual disability in a variety of sports. Other positions include administrative roles on community council (fundraising, secretary, public relations, etc.). If we host competitions, day-of event volunteers are also required. SOO-Barrie offers 14 Olympic-type sports.
The Pack Day Leader assists the Barrie Good Food Box Coordinator at the Barrie Free Methodist Church on the second Wednesday of every month.

Share your love of reading and comfort with Zoom meetings, by facilitating a small online book club for people with development disabilities. This role promotes literacy, community interaction and building relationships.
As a Book Club Facilitator you will manage the weekly Zoom meetings (admitting members, sharing screens, assigning cohosts etc.) as well as assign Individual readers, plan sessions and read some of the chosen text to/with the group.
This group usually focusses on one book per season and works slowly through chapters, reading together and discussing.
This group meets virtually every Tuesday from 6-7 pm, therefore the Facilitator would need to commit about 1.5 hours each Tuesday and perhaps an additional 30 - 60 minutes weekly for planning.

If you’re a crafter or knitter, join our community of Bunny Makers for a good cause! Bunny Makers meet monthly to chat and crochet together from 4:00-6:00 pm at Bridget’s Bunnies office (65 Cedar Pointe Dr. unit 811A, Barrie). In 2015, we ran our first ever Butt Blitz — an action-oriented campaign focused on raising public awareness about cigarette litter, while simultaneously removing as much of it from the environment as possible.
Cigarette butts account for 1 in 5 pieces of litter that we find at our cleanups. These small cigarette butts are one of the most common forms of litter and when not disposed of properly, they cause negative impacts on local ecosystems and health.
Each spring, volunteers from across Canada pick up cigarette butts in their local communities, then send them to TerraCycle Canada for recycling. The social impact of this event is just as important as the environmental impact, as it helps prevent cigarette butt litter from ending up on the ground in the future!
We are looking for Butt Blitz Coordinators in communities across Canada to join us in expanding our impact by engaging volunteers locally throughout April!
As a Butt Blitz Coordinator, you are dedicating your time throughout April to help reduce the amount of cigarette litter in your local community and create a safer, healthier environment. You will help to spread awareness and connect others within your community to get involved in this initiative to reduce cigarette waste.
All you need to participate is a pair of gloves, an up-cycled container (e.g., an old yogurt tub) to collect your butts in, and an interest in improving your local environment!

The Georgian Triangle Humane Society is a not-for-profit charity that provides abandoned, neglected and abused domestic animals a second chance in life at a forever home. The Adoptions Team facilitates the adoption and subsequent retention of approximately 1300 homeless animals annually, and the Cat Adoption Counselor contributes towards this success by answering questions about cat ownership, the adoption process and the cats and kittens available for adoption. This role is integral to matching the right cat (personality type, energy level, special home requirements, etc.) with the right adopter.
Description
Reporting to the Adoptions Coordinator, the Cat Adoption Counselor prepares adoption kits, answers questions about the cats and kittens we have available for adoption. The Cat Adoption Counselor also assists the public with the identification of cats and kittens in the adoption rooms, provides assistance with the completion of adoption applications and facilitates the adoption. There is also the opportunity to attend off-site adoption events in the community.

In 2023, our Cat and Dog Care Teams cared for more than 1500 animals onsite at our Animal Centre.

Dog Enrichment Volunteers report to the Dog Care Coordinator and participate in our Canine Enrichment Program to provide mental and physical stimuli to the dogs in our care at the Animal Centre. To support the wide range of dog behaviours and needs we encounter at the GTHS, Dog Enrichment Volunteers complete a Dog Care Program*; quickly progressing from Green dogs (ie. puppies and seniors who are easy to walk and handle) and Yellow dogs (ie. young, rambunctious, pullers who can be slightly difficult to walk and handle), then work through the Orange and Purple levels at their own pace, with the ultimate goal of working with Red dogs (ie. strong, reactive dogs that are difficult to walk and handle, and that may have other behavioural issues). *Training is required upon joining the Dog Care Team and will be required intermittently to progress through the Dog Care Program.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Create treats / food puzzles
- Provide food and clean water as required or instructed
- Assist in the maintenance of dogs’ physical and mental well-being
- Interact with dogs for walks, training and socialization
- Bathe / groom dogs

-There is no financial cost to foster. All vet and medication expenses and supplies (dog bed, food, crate, leash, collar, toys, pee pads, etc.) are covered by HTDR.
-HTDR provides continuous support to fosters through their assigned foster, medical and adoption coordinators.
-HTDR foster community is connected through social media to provide support, suggestions and resources.
-HTDR works with fosters to match them with dogs that meet their preferences (size, age, temperament, etc.)
-Accepting a rescue dog is voluntary and fosters determine their availability.
-If a placement is not working out, an alternate foster will be found as quickly as possible.
-Assistance with transportation of dog and supplies can sometimes be arranged.

-Fostering typically lasts 3 to 15 weeks, depending on the needs of the dog.
-Foster homes can have children and other pets. Pet vaccinations must be up-to-date.
-Condos and apartments are welcome as foster homes once it is verified that dogs are allowed in the building.
-HTDR currently has fosters in Toronto and several regions around the GTA. Most veterinarian partners are located in Toronto and around the GTA but HTDR has a vet partner in Thornbury as well.

Overview & Impact: The Georgian Triangle Humane society is a not-for-profit charity that works to provide innovative programs and compassionate services to pets and people in the south Georgian Bay region and beyond. Because the GTHS receives no government funding, we rely on the generosity of our donors and supporters to fulfil our mission of delivering innovative programs and compassionate services that enhance the lives of pets in need and the people that care for them. Position Summary: Donor Engagement Volunteers report to the Senior Manager of Philanthropy (or delegate) to gain guidance in fostering positive relationships with donors. by contacting them upon becoming a regular donor or after donating to a ‘signature’ event or campaign. These volunteers will contact identified regular donors or signature event donors and may participate in regular Donor Relations Team meetings to collaborate on ideas that will enhance the relationships that leadership and legacy donors have with the GTHS, to inspire higher levels of giving.

Gift Shop Clerk (Volunteer)
To provide friendly support and service to customers, patients, visitors and staff visiting the hospital Gift Shop. Proceeds from the gift shop help raise funds for hospital patient programs. This position is a great opportunity to work in a fun healthcare team environment.

With a collective goal to deliver our mission of finding a cure for Crohn's and colitis, we are greatly appreciative and thankful for our volunteers who have continuously led the Gutsy Walk to success each year.
As a Gutsy Walk Planning Committee Member, you’ll be working closely with a team of other volunteers to plan and promote your local Gutsy Walk. Your efforts in connecting and engaging your community—whatever your volunteer role with Gutsy Walk—will make a big impact in raising awareness about IBD and finding cures.
In particular, we’re looking for volunteers to support their local Gutsy Walk in the following ways:
- Community Outreach –inspire people to sign up and participate in the local Gutsy Walk

Volunteers would be required to provide support to individuals on a helpline or chat service who have experienced sexual trauma, violence and or assault. A 30 hour training course and interview is to be completed before starting on the helpline and chat service.
The GTHS Animal Hospital contains an Operating Room, Treatment Room, Examination Room, Pharmacy, X-Ray Room and a Hospital Intake / Recovery Area.
Having an onsite hospital ensures animals receive timely, thorough and comprehensive care, saves dozens of daily phone calls, reduces trips back and forth to veterinary clinics, dramatically decreases the stress on the GTHS animals, and leads to the additional benefit of earlier adoption availability; so these animals find their forever home quickly.
The GTHS Animal Hospital is one of the only accessible spay/neuter hospitals serving Bruce, Grey and part of Simcoe County that performs 3,000 surgeries annually (an average of 50 surgeries per week), and subsidizing ~$770K in veterinary costs each year.
To promote pet wellness and safety, 1,858 rabies vaccinations and 1,767 microchips are administered to GTHS animal residents and community clients on an annual basis.

Reporting to the Director of Medicine and Hospital Registered Veterinary Technician, the Hospital Recovery Volunteer will be responsible for maintaining an orderly Recovery Room, assisting with recovering patients and the movement of animals.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Set up the Recovery Room for the day
- This includes making sure kennels have towels and a floor recovery space is set up for large dogs
- Assist with transporting animals into and out of the hospital, as needed
- Assist post-surgery
- Handle, restrain and care for animals
- Monitor animals’ recovery post-surgery (vital signs)
- Report any abnormalities in recovery to the Veterinary Technician
- Help administer vaccines / medications / microchips, under direction
- Help ensure all animals treated in the hospital have records that are maintained accurately
- Assist post-recovery
- Return recovered GTHS animals to the appropriate location onsite at the Animal Centre
- Place recovered pets into the appropriate cat carrier or dog crate
- Maintain an orderly Recovery Room
- Store vaccines / medications / microchips appropriately
- Disinfect / sanitize monitoring equipment
- Clean and disinfect cages, floors, surfaces and surrounding areas
- Dispose of garbage and recyclables
- Wash any dishes used
- Top up or record supplies needed
- Assist Hospital staff as required
- Follow appropriate protocol, legislation and regulations

As a Humane Education Volunteer Team Member, you would deliver presentations (60-75 minutes in length) primarily to local schools. The content for presentations will cover the Ontario SPCA mission and reflect humane education`s goal to inspire compassion, empathy, and respect for all animals, inspiring a connection with animals.
AnimalSmart™ presentations take a student-centred approach, aiming to foster meaningful conversations about animals through discussions, videos, and activities with curriculum connections.
Previous teaching, presenting or experience working in a school setting would be an asset.
-Have good working knowledge of PowerPoint, Google Classroom, and other presentation software.
-Ability to clearly communicate instructions to students.
-Must provide a clear Criminal and Judicial Matters Check.
-A vehicle in good working order will be required for this role.
-Must reside within our Animal Centre communities (York, Durham, Barrie, Lennox & Addington, Leeds & Grenville, Midland, Muskoka, Orangeville, Orillia, Renfrew County, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry, & Sudbury.
-Must be able to provide daytime availability (during school hours).
-Must be available to deliver 4 presentations a month.
-Access to a personal tech device on a secure Wi-Fi network.
Providing first Aid support at local community events.
Reporting to the Humane Education Specialist, the Pet Bereavement Volunteer is responsible for co-hosting a monthly Pet Bereavement Group, in partnership with Hospice Georgian Triangle, to support pet owners come to terms with the loss of their pet and to facilitate the sharing of pet ownership experiences in an empathetic environment.
- Session preparation:
- Collect GTHS signage, documentation and any other supplies required from Animal Centre
- Ensure venue is clean, tidy and welcoming for attendee’s arrival
- Session wrap-up:
- Tidy venue
- Return GTHS property to Animal Centre, as appropriate
- Co-host Group with Hospice Georgian Triangle by assisting with planned activities and discussions
- Hospice Georgian Triangle will lead and plan sessions, GTHS volunteers will provide support and friendly, non-judgemental, and empathetic connection for group participants
- Promote additional GTHS programs and services, as appropriate
- Follow appropriate protocol, policies and procedures
Assist with participant pre-evaluations and assessments
Help with the set up and clean up of refreshments, games and activities
Assist Minds in Motion Coordinator to ensure activity participation and socialization
Under direction of the Physical Activity Program Leader, provide one-on-one support to participants during physical activity component of the program
Assist with any other required task
Complete a post evaluation form
- Help with the set up and clean up of the projects each week.
- Assist Art Therapist to ensure activity participation and socialization of each participant
- Under direction of the Art Therapist/Family Support Coordinator, provide one-to-one support to the participants during the creative art process.
- Assist with any other tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
- At the end of the Program (June) complete an evaluation form about the volunteer role in the Quest Art School + Gallery Program.

Special Events Volunteers ensure the effective implementation of Special Events Initiatives within the area. Duties include: promoting events, liaising with all community partners, recruit new groups and organizations to carry out activities, locating sponsors, etc.
All ages and experience levels welcomed. Main activities:
- Walking, lots of walking in indoor 60'x120' (20x40m) arena or outdoor (30 x 70m) or wooded trails...up to 2kms/hour
- Grooming and getting horses ready, we will train on this
- Leading or walking with a horse with rider onboard, we will train for this
- Working with riders on the autism spectrum, Down Syndrome or with a physical disability
- Both early evening hours and daytime/afternoon hours available
- 2 hour commitment
Volunteers visit seniors' centres, hospitals and schools with properly evaluated dogs, no less than 1 year old, providing residents and patients the companionship of a pet.
Volunteers will be responsable for meeting with a clients weekly or bi-weekly to add enrichment to peoples lives. Clients are blind or have vision loss to some degree, which often requires adpaments to life. Volunteers are required to socialse with them and add normal contact back in their lives after the effects of the pandemic. They can go for walks, visit community gardens, really anything the pair would enjoy. The requirement are up to the two people who are paired.

Help Senior Wish expand into Simcoe County to ensure that no senior is left isolated, alone and feeling like society has forgotten them. Help is especially needed to prepare for our Christmas Wish program starting in Sept.
Various volunteer opportunities, including ushering, bingo, set up and tear down of sets, data entry, assist with administrative duties and assisting with inventory of costumes and props. There are also opportunities to help with one time special events.

Initial Session: Conduct an opening session with the child and parents to develop a personalized tutoring plan.

Planning and Scheduling: Schedule and organize all tutoring sessions in coordination with the participant and program coordinator.

Session Management: Direct sessions to build on skills the child is learning in school and provide one-on-one tutoring.

Student Engagement: Communicate with students to understand their learning needs and create engaging, interactive learning experiences.

Academic Support: Educate students on various subjects, assist with homework assignments and test preparation, and support understanding of numeracy and/or literacy concepts using the Ontario curriculum.

Strategy Development: Develop and implement strategies tailored to students with learning disabilities and ADHD, focusing on enhancing academic skills and self-confidence.

Progress Monitoring: Track and document student progress, providing feedback and adjusting methods as needed.

Training and Development: Attend virtual training sessions and meetings as required to stay updated on best practices and program guidelines.
