FoodFit is a 12-week program that combines fun, hands-on cooking sessions and food-based activities with take-home recipes, easy-to-understand nutrition information, group exercise, shared meals, self-directed individual and group goal-setting, and reflection and feedback loops that monitor and reinforce individual and group progress. 
 
The ideal volunteer should be comfortable working in a busy kitchen, have some previous exposure to food skills programming and food safety, and have excellent motivational skills. They should be able to commit to the 12 weeks of the program working with the same FoodFit team each week. The volunteer should respect people’s privacy and lived experience and hold no prejudices towards people of different socio-economic backgrounds or cultures from their own. 
 
Duties include: 
• Assisting the facilitator in setting up the kitchen and program space each week  
• Assist the facilitator in preparing a healthy snack for the FoodFit team each week 
• Working with participants in the kitchen: providing assistance reading recipes/converting measurements, supervising food safety and hygiene, supervising knife handling and kitchen safety practices, encouraging all participants to get involved in cooking/preparing food, create a model “healthy plate” for each week’s meals, etc.  
• Assisting the facilitator and participants in kitchen clean up and encouraging all participants to “share the load”  
• Participate in a 30 minute walk and encourage all participants to “get moving” each week 
• Follow all instructions from the FoodFit facilitator and be ready to “pitch in” 
• Motivate participants to achieve success in the program and lead by example 
• May be asked to assist participants in completing pre- and end-program questionnaires (e.g. interviewing participants and recording their answers for them if they have writing/language barriers) or assisting with program participant intakes (measuring waist/height, flexibility tests, blood pressure, pulse/heart rate)

1. In-Clinic Role – In this role, our volunteers oversee donor safety and satisfaction after they’ve made their donation. The volunteers socialize with donors, provide juice and cookies, and watch for adverse reactions. 
2. In-Community Role – In this role, our volunteers go out into their communities to inform the public about the need for blood. They focus on recruiting new and lapsed donors, booking appointments into upcoming clinics, and giving out information to raise awareness about blood donation. In Community volunteers may attend health fairs, summer events, corporate events etc to raise awareness about the need for blood.

As the Site and Route Lead, you will be organizing an accessible and functional site and route for participants, sponsors and volunteers. Safety and accountability is a key priority during the planning process. Executing a 1km & 5km route, managing all route volunteers and ensuring the requirements of the local municipality and the event minimum standards (provided by staff) are met and your key priorities for Run weekend. Leading up to the event, Site and Route Lead will work closely with the Run Directors to determine the services required and all permits/groups that need to be coordinated with due to impact of the event. They will be the master of inventory and storage of Run materials, and will ensure all agreements are completed and permits submitted. The Site & Route Lead demonstrates their project management to complete and oversees the set-up, tear down and clean-up (including any disposal) of the Run site. They are fantastic at forwarding all contacts/invoices and great communicators with their Run Director and committee.

A wish granter will meet with the wish child and family members to help determine the child’s most heartfelt wish while brainstorming and planning special enhancements throughout the wish process. • Partner with at least one other volunteer wish granter to help grant the wishes of children throughout the chapter’s territory.  
• Visit the wish child, with the goal of discerning his/her one true wish, while gaining a clear understanding of the reason behind the child’s most heartfelt wish. 
• Complete and submit wish paperwork in a timely manner according to chapter guidelines.  
• Create a magical wish experience for the wish child by planning and delivering “wish enhancements” – special, creative touches that keep the child excited about the wish throughout the process.

• Plan “send-off” party or “presentation” party for each wish, as appropriate.

At various times during the year we supporting the Heart Month campaign by contacting former canvassers by phone, updating our volunteer data base and assisting with the routing, distributing canvasser’s kits, etc. At other times of the year we are involved in counting and processing donations, preparing tax receipts, and managing various data sources for all the programs run in this office.  
 
We need people with office experience, strong computer skills (including strong knowledge of Excel and Word). Financial background would be beneficial. For this position we are looking for volunteers who are able to commit one day per week, Mon to Fri for at least 6 months. Our office volunteers typically work 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: ▪ Supporting the Camp Director and Program Staff by transporting staff and/or campers by means of golf cart, as required, to daily activities. 
▪ Transport campers and/or staff to medical facilities when additional care is required. 
▪ Responsible for monitoring and distributing hot and cold packs throughout the day, as necessary. ▪ Act as a positive role model to staff and campers. ▪ Under the guidance of the Camp Director and Program Staff, Transporters may be asked to perform various supportive duties, including delivering refreshments to campers and assisting with luggage drop off. ▪ Ensure a high standard of health and safety of campers in all activities at camp, including the proper use of golf carts at all times.

When called on to respond, the PDA Responder will be required to provide relief directly to clients in need of assistance.  
 
Job Summary:  
The Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) Team is activated to respond and provide assistance for up to the first 72 hours following a disaster. The incumbent of this position is responsible for conducting a needs assessment to determine the needs of the clients. The PDA Responder will provide, as appropriate to agreements with the local authorities, Emergency Social Services (ESS) for relief, referral services and direct assistance for recovery, as well as, works with the PDA Supervisor to plan and organize ongoing preparedness activities. They may be asked to deliver services during a large-scale emergency response in their community.  
 
Working Conditions:  
• Potential for responding in disaster areas, as well as difficult and unstable conditions (environmental, physical, social, etc.) and uncomfortable conditions (noise, odours, smoke, humidity, vulnerable clients). These environments have the potential to affect the overall wellbeing of the responders on site.  
• The incumbent may need to stand for several hours.  
• The incumbent may need to lift up to 20 kg of relief supplies during preparedness activities and during response.  
• Ability to respond during non-traditional hours (i.e. late night or weekends) and long hours of work in a demanding context.  
• Ability to be on-call when scheduled, as required.

As the Site and Route Lead, you will organize an accessible and functional site and route for participants, sponsors and volunteers. Safety and accountability is a key priority during the planning process. Executing a 1km & 5km route, managing all route volunteers and ensuring that requirements of the local municipality and the event minimum standards (provided by staff) are met are your key priorities for Run weekend. Leading up to the event, Site and Route Lead will work closely with the Run Directors to determine the services required and all permits/groups that need to be coordinated with due to impact of the event. They will be the master of inventory and storage of Run materials, and will ensure all agreements are completed and permits submitted. The Site & Route Lead demonstrates their project management to complete and oversees the set-up, tear down and clean-up (including any disposal) of the Run site. They are fantastic at forwarding all contacts/invoices and great communicators with their Run Director and committee.
