1. Horse Leader - assist in adaptive and therapeutic riding lessons by leading horses. 
2. Side Walking - walk with our riders and assist them during their riding lessons.  
3. Alternate Activity Volunteer - Assist our clients in activities such as horsemanship, yoga, tae kwon doe, art, snow shoeing, sledding, fishing etc.  
4. Handy person/ barn hand - assist Hope Haven in making property improvements (fixing horse gates, painting, building small fixtures etc). Assist with caring for our horse herd.

• Maintain an ordering and pick-up process for purchasers Work with the Barrie Good Food Box Steering Committee to ensure consistent policies, processes and strategies across volunteer and member activities. 
• Maintain website, email, phone, social media and Google Drive 
• Check order sites to ensure accurate GFB schedules, flyers and order forms. Replace as needed. 
• Pick up cash orders from order sites on the Thursday morning before the pack 
• Download online orders from website and compile order list

Furry Friends Animal Shelter

Furry Friends Animal Shelter is a non-profit, no-kill organization dedicated to providing shelter and love to abandoned, lost or rescued cats and kittens in the Barrie Community. We provide care to almost 1,000 animals and do not euthanize healthy animals for any reason. We are a registered charity funded by generous donors and supporters and operated completely by volunteers. 
 
We are looking for dependable adult animal-lovers (over 18 years of age...younger volunteers must be with a fellow volunteer who is 18+ for the entire shift) to help us match cats and kittens with people who can give them a permanent, loving home. Two weeks per month we adopt cats and kittens out of the PetSmart Adoption Centre (33 Mapleview Drive East, Barrie). 
 
There are three main tasks:  
1. Keep the kitties clean and comfortable - top up food and water, clean cages (litter boxes too!) and pet and play with them! 
2. Interact with the public and potential adopters in a retail environment, giving great customer service.  
3. Assess suitable adopters, complete adoption paperwork and process payments.

Run a 7 week program within the elementary schools for kids in grade 6,7 and/or 8. The program focuses on core themes including; body image, self-esteem, healthy eating/activity and building healthy relationship. Volunteers are responsible for a group of 4-8 kids. Its once a week for 90 minutes and its a 7-week program. They run during the school day 9-3pm, Monday-Friday from September- June. Volunteer can run multiple groups during the school year. FoodFit is a 12-week program that combines fun, hands-on cooking sessions and food-based activities with take-home recipes, easy-to-understand nutrition information, group exercise, shared meals, self-directed individual and group goal-setting, and reflection and feedback loops that monitor and reinforce individual and group progress. 
 
The ideal volunteer should be comfortable working in a busy kitchen, have some previous exposure to food skills programming and food safety, and have excellent motivational skills. They should be able to commit to the 12 weeks of the program working with the same FoodFit team each week. The volunteer should respect people’s privacy and lived experience and hold no prejudices towards people of different socio-economic backgrounds or cultures from their own. 
 
Duties include: 
• Assisting the facilitator in setting up the kitchen and program space each week  
• Assist the facilitator in preparing a healthy snack for the FoodFit team each week 
• Working with participants in the kitchen: providing assistance reading recipes/converting measurements, supervising food safety and hygiene, supervising knife handling and kitchen safety practices, encouraging all participants to get involved in cooking/preparing food, create a model “healthy plate” for each week’s meals, etc.  
• Assisting the facilitator and participants in kitchen clean up and encouraging all participants to “share the load”  
• Participate in a 30 minute walk and encourage all participants to “get moving” each week 
• Follow all instructions from the FoodFit facilitator and be ready to “pitch in” 
• Motivate participants to achieve success in the program and lead by example

There are 2 main volunteer roles at Canadian Blood Services: 
1. In-Clinic Role – In this role, our volunteers oversee donor safety and satisfaction after they’ve made their donation. The volunteers socialize with donors, provide juice and cookies, and watch for adverse reactions. 
2. In-Community Role – In this role, our volunteers go out into their communities to inform the public about the need for blood. They focus on recruiting new and lapsed donors, booking appointments into upcoming clinics, and giving out information to raise awareness about blood donation. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Arthritis Society is recruiting for dedicated, caring and enthusiastic TRANSPORTERS to volunteer at Camp Cambria, a camp for children living with arthritis, from August 19, 2018 to August 25, 2018 inclusive (pre-training required). 
Location: Camp Kodiak (Host Camp) Located North of Perry Sound in McKellar, ON 
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: ▪ Supporting the Camp Director and Program Staff by transporting staff and/or campers by means of golf cart, as required, to daily activities. 
▪ Transport campers and/or staff to medical facilities when additional care is required. 
▪ Responsible for monitoring and distributing hot and cold packs throughout the day, as necessary. ▪ Act as a positive role model to staff and campers. ▪ Under the guidance of the Camp Director and Program Staff, Transporters may be asked to perform various supportive duties, including delivering refreshments to campers and assisting with luggage drop off. ▪ Ensure a high standard of health and safety of campers in all activities at camp, including the proper use of golf carts at all times. 
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES: 
▪ Comprehensive understanding of the implications of living with arthritis, gained by living with arthritis and/or working/volunteering with people living with arthritis and / or chronic pain. 
▪ Valid CPR/First aid training certification. 
▪ All drivers must hold at minimum a G1 driver’s license and have experience driving.

The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking a Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) Responder for Disaster Management (DM). Reporting to the PDA Supervisor, the PDA Responder will be responsible to fill various on-call shifts on a 24/7 schedule that includes weekends, holidays and evenings. When called on to respond, the PDA Responder will be required to provide relief directly to clients in need of assistance.  
 
Job Summary:  
The Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) Team is activated to respond and provide assistance for up to the first 72 hours following a disaster. The incumbent of this position is responsible for conducting a needs assessment to determine the needs of the clients. The PDA Responder will provide, as appropriate to agreements with the local authorities, Emergency Social Services (ESS) for relief, referral services and direct assistance for recovery, as well as, works with the PDA Supervisor to plan and organize ongoing preparedness activities. They may be asked to deliver services during a large-scale emergency response in their community.  
 
Working Conditions:  
• Potential for responding in disaster areas, as well as difficult and unstable conditions (environmental, physical, social, etc.) and uncomfortable conditions (noise, odours, smoke, humidity, vulnerable clients). These environments have the potential to affect the overall wellbeing of the responders on site.  
• The incumbent may need to stand for several hours.  
• The incumbent may need to lift up to 20 kg of relief supplies during preparedness activities and during response.  
• Ability to respond during non-traditional hours (i.e. late night or weekends) and long hours of work in a demanding context.  
• Ability to be on-call when scheduled, as required.
