Visit socially with assigned residents for 10-30 minutes depending on their interests, health, and attention span. Visits may include, but are not limited to chatting, going outside, playing cards, crafts, telling jokes, current events, etc.
Adult Day Program Helper

Our Adult Day Programs (ADPs) provide social, recreational and therapeutic activities for seniors, individuals with a disability, Alzheimer's disease or other dementia in a safe and supervised environment. Activities are designed to be accessible to each participant by focusing on their abilities, not their disabilities. Activities could include exercise classes, cards and games, art and crafts, music and cooking. Program runs Monday to Friday 9am-3pm. Volunteers come in during a planned timeslot to assist with the programs and visit with the clients. 

GLA:D Program Assistants   Simcoe County 
Barrie Community Health Centre, Barrie - Huronia Rd, GLA:D Canada

  • Supportive of exercise being part of one's lifestyle

  • Familiar with osteoarthritis of the hip and/or knee

  • Be able to bend and squat repeatedly

  • Be able to lift exercise equipment (pedal bikes, risers, chairs)

  • Mon and Wed 1:15 to 3:45 pm and/or

  • Mon and Fri morning 8:45 to 11:15 am

  • Additional time may be helpful to assist those in need of computer registration with GLA:D Canada at BCHC
