Role & Time Commitment

 

The Catulpa Community Support Services’ Board is responsible for effective governance of the agency through oversight of strategic planning, fiscal review and determination of mission-related policy.

 

It is not responsible for fundraising, personnel, programs, services, curricula or budgets. Volunteer Directors provide special skills and knowledge, (finance, law, social services, healthcare, etc.) within the Board setting.

 

Meetings take place in Barrie, Ontario six times annually for approximately three hours per meeting. Successful Board of Director applicants are appointed for a term of three years and provided a mentor.

Clearview Community Garden

Seeking volunteers to help with the maintenance of our 1500 square meter garden at Clearview Eco Park: planting, weeding, watering and harvesting for the local food banks. Take what you need and share what you can policy... if you can help with the garden you get to share in the harvest.

Experience: To be considered for the role of Accounting Professional on the Catulpa Community Support Services Board Audit and Finance Committee, candidates should possess a strong background in finance and accounting, ideally with a professional designation such as CPA. Candidates should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of financial management, budgeting, and reporting processes. Experience in non-profit organizations or social service sectors is advantageous, as it indicates a familiarity with the unique financial challenges and reporting requirements inherent in these settings. Strong analytical and strategic financial planning skills are crucial, as the Accounting Professional will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organization's fiscal responsibility and sustainability. The ability to collaborate effectively with other Board Members, understand the financial implications of strategic decisions, and contribute to the agency’s overall financial health is essential for success in this position.

COPE Service Dogs
Barrie, Innisfil

Responsibilities and Duties:

Pick up multiple dogs at various locations and transport to designated locations for Canines in the Classroom student training and refinement training in Barrie and Innisfil, using the van provided by COPE.

Qualifications and preferred Skills

Clean driving record, physically able to lift 30 pounds, one year experience of owning and/or handling dogs, previous experience driving transit or larger vehicles.

Level 2 criminal check required prior to driving the van.

In home Volunteer Angels provide childcare support for parents who have been diagnosed with cancer, for those requiring palliative care, and for families requiring additional relief during the bereavement period to help reduce any stress or anxiety they may be experiencing due to their parent’s illness or death.

By meeting weekly, building trust, and having fun, our Angels help parents gain the confidence and peace of mind to rest or attend medical appointments, knowing their children are cared for and supported by knowledgeable and compassionate volunteers.

Our Angels receive specialized training and the support of NAN’s Child Life Specialist throughout their volunteering time.

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind
Orillia

Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind is seeking volunteers to help with our local fundraising efforts in Orillia. 
Our Guider Donation Dog program has operated in cities and towns across Canada for nearly 40 years, and continues to raise much needed funds that impact the lives of visually impaired Canadians in your community.

Volunteers will take care of and collect from 4 donation dogs currently in place at local businesses in Orillia. Collections take place 3-4 times per year, as fits the volunteer's schedule. Once collected, volunteers will deposit the funds at their local RBC branch.

Our flexible volunteer program is great for seniors, and those with busy lives that still want to contribute in a way that fits their schedule. Set your own hours and volunteer where and when it is convenient for you!

COPE Service Dogs

Using COPE Service Dogs van (to be picked up at Barrie office), pick up dogs dogs at various homes in the Barrie area in the morning, drop them off at schools in Barrie and Innisfil, for students to train them for approx. one hour.  If doing a second shift in the afternoon, pick the dogs up from the school, then drive them back home.

Valid drivers license a requirement,

Must have clean driving record,

Must have some experience with dogs,

Must be able to lift 30 pounds,

6-month commitment required, with a minimum of 2 shifts per week.

Flexible shifts, Monday to Friday, during the daytime.

Vans do not go out on School holidays or snow days.
