We are bringing on several high school youth to join Season 5 of our Food Leader Interview Series! Our youth Interviewers conduct virtual video interviews with professionals working in our food systems (aka Canadian food leaders). This role is responsible for participating in virtual training sessions, designing interview questions, communicating with their selected Interviewee, and carrying out an interview over Zoom.
No prior experience is required! You must currently be a high school student or of high school age (14-19).
Our goal is to provide a flexible and self-driven atmosphere where you’re free to explore your interests, gain new skills, and ultimately contribute to an important youth-driven project to inspire and educate youth about agri-food careers!
Wiidookdaadiwin is a lookout site built to honour and acknowledge Indigenous and settler relations in Simcoe County. There are Indigenous plantings and story boards in both Ojibway and Engish, and a tremendous vistia lookout of Georgian Bay and the region.
We are looking for summer volunteers to assist with daily operations such as opening and closing the site. This will require the volunteer to have a car and ideally live locally. Volunteers will also be required to particiapte in special events such as the official grand opening in June, 2025. Further terms and dates for these roles are negotiable. We are looking for 3-5 volunteers for the summer from May to September, 2025.
The site is located at 2816 George Johnston Road, Springwater, Ontario.
This is a remote volunteer position supporting the Guelph-Wellington Community. All shifts and training are completed remotely, therefore, residence in Guelph-Wellington is not a requirement for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Complete outbound and outbound calls with service users residing in the county
- Complete safety/wellness checks, provide medication reminders, and engage in social conversations with vulnerable populations
- Assist with crisis intervention, when presented
- Utilize a strengths-based, solution-focused approach
- Provide external resources and referrals to service users
- Complete case documentation of all interactions with service users

Camp 2: August 11-15 (Monday to Friday) Ages 5-12
Time: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
There is before care 8:00 am to 8:45 am and after care 4:15 pm to 5:00 pm

The goal of VON’s SMART (Seniors Maintaining Active Roles Together)® Exercise and Falls Prevention program is to enable adults 55+ to maintain independence, improve quality of life and to ultimately promote healthy aging. This functional exercise program can be found in various communities throughout Grey-Bruce.
VON SMART and Falls Prevention classes are led by volunteers who VON trains (2 days of practical plus the theory) and certify. Weekly we offer over 50 Level 1 and Level 2 classes in Grey Bruce with over 1,000 participants! We ask for a minimum commitment of 2 hours a week (one class) but have flexible schedules for those who are away for long periods of time. We are looking for volunteer instructors for both levels of classes.
These classes are offered free of charge to participants within Grey Bruce communities.
Supportive Care volunteers offer social and emotional support to individuals and families living with a life-threatening or life-limiting illness in Grey and Bruce counties (except Bruce Peninsula). Trained hospice volunteers offer support for approximately 2-3 hours per week depending on the needs of the individual and their family, and the availability of volunteers. Respite for family caregivers and companionship to individuals can be offered. Support can be provided in the client’s home, long term care homes and/or hospitals

Description of Duties:
As a Volunteer Mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters, you’ll be matched with a young person (ages 6–16) to provide friendship, support, and guidance through regular one-on-one visits. Your role is to build a consistent and trusting relationship that helps your mentee develop confidence, resilience, and life skills.
Community-Based Mentoring:

Commit to spending 2–4 hours per week with your mentee for a minimum of one year.

Plan fun, low-cost outings based on shared interests (e.g., playing sports, going for walks, cooking, visiting local attractions).

Act as a consistent and caring role model.

Maintain regular communication with program staff for support and match monitoring.
In-School Mentoring:

Visit your mentee for 1 hour each week during school hours (September to June).

Engage in non-academic activities such as board games, crafts, or conversation in a supervised school setting.

Focus on building self-esteem, emotional well-being, and social skills.

Follow school guidelines and BBBS program standards.
All mentors receive training, ongoing support, and resources from our experienced team. No special skills required—just a desire to make a difference!
- Empathetic listeners who are able to provide inclusive, non-judgmental support to callers representing a variety of ages, identities, and concerns
- Call centre operates 24/7, and we actively recruit both day and night shifts.
- Day shifts are 4 hours
- Assist with the establishment of long and short term goals, objectives and priorities for KWIC in meeting its charitable mandate
- Recommend/Implement policies developed by the Board
- Review as necessary the Board's structure, approve changes and prepare necessary bylaw amendments
- Participate in KWIC's development and strategic plan of operation as part of an annual review
- Approve the annual budget
- Approve the hiring of the Executive Director
- Approve the Executive Director’s contract based on the recommendations of the Personnel/Executive Committee
- Participate in the evaluation of KWIC activities and performance of the Executive Director
- Assist in developing and maintaining positive relations among staff, volunteers, Board committees, education institutions and the community to fulfill the mission of KWIC
- Report and be answerable to the members
- Participate in one standing committee & its activities ( currently: HR/Finance, Programs,Fundraising, Communications, Nominations)
- Lead and/or support KWIC fundraising initiatives, including board fundraising strategy
- Actively champion KWIC in the communityActively champion KWIC in the community Commitment to the work of the organization
- Knowledge and skills in one or more area of Board governance: fundraising, financial planning, policy, programs and personnel
- Willingness to serve on at least one committee
- Willingness to participate in board fundraising strategy - “Give or Get”
- Attend all Board meetings and the Annual General meeting (meeting times are collectively established)
- A time commitment of approximately 6 to 8 hours per month (includes Board preparation, committee and meeting time and financial preparation time)
- Actively monitor and respond to KWIC email communication
- Be informed of the services and programs provided by the Kawartha World Issues Centre and publicly support and articulate them
- Prepare for and participate in the discussions and the deliberations of the Board
- Foster a positive working relationship with other Board members, KWIC staff and volunteers
- Be aware of and declare any conflict of interest (see Conflict of Interest Policy)

We are looking for event day volunteers for our 2025 Kidney Walk that will be responsible for registering walk participants, set-up/take-down of the event, and route marshaling on Sunday September 7th at St. Vincent Park (65 Blake St, Barrie, On L4M 1J9) from 8am-1pm.

Description:
Volunteers will assist with the setup, execution, and takedown of Paws for a Cause, a Pet Walk-a-Thon fundraiser for Samaritan House. This is a fun, outdoor event supporting vulnerable individuals and families in Simcoe County. Volunteers will be assigned to a certain role, you will not be expected to do all of the duties listed below, those are the duties for all of the roles.
Expected Activities:

Help with event setup (tables, signs, water stations, etc.)
