Description & Services
DescriptionMuskoka-Parry Sound Community Mental Health provides mental health crisis intervention, treatment, and community support (case management) services * callers first talk to a staff member on the phone, and if appropriate come in for an intake interview * individuals in crisis are seen as soon as possible, and an after-hours phone service is staffed by qualified clinicians * treatment services include assessment and referral * counselling/psychotherapy * psychiatric consultation * and intensive case management for individuals with serious mental illness * some services are held in a group 
 
Core Services include: 
 
Crisis/Intake Support Service Intake Service provides single point of entry for all services of the Core Program * screening and review of all referrals are completed and reviewed by the Crisis/Intake team * Crisis Support Service provides 24 hour a day telephone support service * crisis support in the community * post crisis follow-up * 24 hour a day consultations to hospitals 
 
COAST (Community Outreach and Support Team) a multidisciplinary, mobile, outreach team that provides comprehensive individualized treatment, housing, medication, rehabilitation, employment and financial services, for people experiencing a persistent and serious mental illness 
 
Court Diversion and Support allows a person who is accused of a minor criminal offense the opportunity to be directed away from the criminal justice system * the person agrees to an individualized support/treatment program in the community * the goal is to minimize future involvement with the criminal justice system 
 
Supportive Housing Service provides units or rent supplements to clients who have experienced serious mental illness, and are homeless or are at risk of homelessness, and are receiving ongoing service from the Agency * support is provided by mental health workers and assistance is given with required referrals 
 
Counselling Psychotherapy and Education Service provides individual counselling (as resources allow) including assessment, treatment planning and case management * group counselling * community consultation – providing consultation to other organizations on issues related to mental illness * community education to increase awareness of mental health issues 
 
Other programs include: 
 
Regional Seniors’ Mental Health Consultation Service provides mental health assessment, diagnosis, treatment recommendations and limited follow-up and/or referral on an outreach basis for people with age-related mental health problems * Collaboration with health care agencies and caregivers in order to provide advocacy for clients and their families to ensure that the mental health needs of seniors are met 
 
Adult Protective Services (APS) provides help for developmentally disabled adults to live independently in the community including assisting clients in locating and retaining accommodation * providing counselling for life skills, financial management and emotional issues * assisting clients in co-ordinating medical and dental appointments, etc * advocating to ensure rights of clients are not compromised * assisting clients with the judicial system 
 
Council of Consumer/Survivor and Family Initiatives offers a peer-driven, peer-guided community program providing peer knowledge and support to people wo live with mental health issues both as consumer/Survivors and as family members 
 
Volunteer Program provides opportunities for volunteers that will assist in the delivery of service and enhance the quality of life for people who live with a serious mental illness or developmental disability * Volunteer Coordinator can be reached at 705-645-2262 
 
Partner Assault Response Program provides a group for men who have been abusive, including physical assault, verbal abuse, emotional abuse, or any threatening or intimidating controlling behaviours * the group covers a variety of subjects including anger management and conflict resolution 
 
Developmental Disabilities Regional Outreach Program provides psychiatric consultation and treatment for adults with developmental disabilities and serious mental health illness
