Description (Service)
  • Provides educational services and supports to elementary, secondary and post-secondary school students of Magnetawan First Nation 
  • Coordinates bus transportation for elementary students attending Britt Elementary School and secondary students attending Parry Sound High School 
  • Prepares education budgets and develops education policies to meet the needs of the community 
  • Receives and resolves complaints and disputes related to any education matters 
  • Represents the community as a member on the Near North District School Board (NNDSB) 
  • Oversees the Magnetawan Public Library 
  • Coordinates an after-school program for community students
Secondary Education 
  • Provides assistance, guidance and referrals to helps with academic issues 
  • Maintains lists of students, addresses and schools attended 
  • Provides information on community involvement hours to students about groups looking for volunteer assistance
Post Secondary Education  
  • Provides counselling and guidance in choosing post-secondary field of studies  
  • Provides assistance for applying/filling out application forms for colleges and universities 
  • Provides financial sponsorship support to post secondary students based upon available funding

Post Secondary Education  
  • All registered Band members of Magnetawan First Nation are eligible to apply for assistance if attending a post-secondary institution 
  • The program of study must be recognized as a post-secondary program by accredited academic institution recognized by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development
Application Post Secondary Education 
  • Educational assistance package available from Education Counsellor and on website 
  • Continuing students must reapply for funding each year  
  • Deadline to apply for assistance: May 31st for a fall start-up of same year
For financial assistance applicant required to provide: 
  • Photocopy of recent status card  
  • Completed post-secondary application package issued by Magnetawan First Nation  
  • Letter of acceptance from post-secondary institution  
  • Transcripts from high school and any previous academic institutions  
  • Detailed letter of intent with program information  
  • Bank information for direct deposit only 
  • Signed student contract
