Description (Service) COVID-19 Response 
Due to COVID-19, there are no in-person income tax clinics for 2021. Follow instructions in Application section to arrange for assistance with income tax returns.  
 
Regular Service 
For individuals requiring assistance to complete their income tax and benefit return and are unable to pay for assistance, the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) may be able to assist. Volunteers E-File your return to CRA. 
 
Can file 2017-2020 returns electronically, prior years require a mailed filing.

Areas Served Elmvale
Eligibility These suggested maximum income levels should serve as a guideline only: 
 
Single: Up to $30,000 
Couple: Up to $40,000 
with a dependent, add $2500 
 
Local community organizations have the flexibility to adjust or set additional eligibility criteria for taxpayers based on the local economic environment, the population they serve, and their own capacity 
 
Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as: 
  • returns for deceased persons 
  • individuals who file for bankruptcy 
  • self-employed individuals 
  • individuals who report capital gains or losses 
  • individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and 
    expenses
 
 
Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include 
  • Indigenous peoples 
  • Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients 
  • Newcomers to Canada 
  • Seniors 
  • Students
Application 1) Email your name and contact info (phone #) to cvitp.elmvale@gmail.com. A volunteer will be in touch to arrange tax preparation by phone. 
2) Drop off your income tax papers at the Elmvale Library - Place in a sealed envelop addressed INCOME TAXES  
Envelope to be deposited in the Book Return slot. 
A volunteer will prepare them and return them for pickup. Make sure you have provided your name, SIN #, date of birth. Also your rent information for the past year and landlord's name or property taxes paid.  
3) Phone the Elmvale Library at 705 -322-1482. To leave your name and phone #, a Volunteer will be in contact.
