Description (Service) | All visits must be pre-scheduled The mission of SFBLF is to Fight Diabetes through education and advocacy with an emphasis on youth. The SFBLF Diabetes Management and Education Centre (DMEC) is located at the Banting Homestead Heritage Park, a 107-acre site and the birthplace of Sir Frederick Banting, co-discoverer of insulin and Canada's first Nobel Laureate. On-site programs include instructor-led School Tours, Group Tours, Day Camp Field Trip support, general public access. All visits must be scheduled in advance. Other Programs are offered through the website and there are special events and awards programs [all described below]. The DMEC complex includes:
