Service: Sunrise Program for Domestic and Sexual Assault

Description
Description (Service) Designated Sexual Assault Centre provides treatment for women, men, youth and children who are victims of recent sexual assault, domestic violence or child abuse 
 
* specially trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners provide care in a private suite  
* assessment and treatment for injury, pregnancy and sexual transmitted infections 
* private interview room for individuals who choose to meet with police or provide a video statement to police 
* social workers provide follow-up support 
* referrals to community partners for counselling and other supports 
 
Physical evidence can be collected and used at a later date if the individual chooses to pursue legal action 
 
Centre includes an area for children and volunteers to sit with children while their parent/caregiver is receiving treatment
