Description (Service) | Designated Sexual Assault Centre provides treatment for women, men, youth and children who are victims of recent sexual assault, domestic violence or child abuse * specially trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners provide care in a private suite * assessment and treatment for injury, pregnancy and sexual transmitted infections * private interview room for individuals who choose to meet with police or provide a video statement to police * social workers provide follow-up support * referrals to community partners for counselling and other supports Physical evidence can be collected and used at a later date if the individual chooses to pursue legal action Centre includes an area for children and volunteers to sit with children while their parent/caregiver is receiving treatment |
