Service: Mental Health and Addiction Peer Support (MAPS) Probation and Parole
Description
Description (Service) | Offers peer support services to those on Probation or Parole. MAPS workers have lived experience with mental illness and or addictions and intentionally share parts of their lived experience and recovery journey in their role as a supporter. This fosters a connection and a sense of hope while promoting coping strategies and self help. MAPS workers provide one-to-one and group peer support to help with system navigation, encouragement of self advocacy, general listening, support, and skill development. One-to-one and group peer support is offered to help with system navigation, encouragement of self-advocacy, general listening, judgement free support, Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) development and other skill development. In addition, a free lending library is available, which offers educational resources regarding mental health and overall well-being. |
