Lang Pioneer Village Museum

Description (Service) A living history museum complete with lanes and pathways, farm animals, rail and stump fences, vegetable and herb gardens, and other authentic details of a 19th-century hamlet. 
* 20 restored buildings from 1800-1900 
* Volunteer villagers of all ages performing daily chores dressed in authentic historical costumes 
* Blacksmithing demonstrations 
* Printing demonstrations 
* Various pioneer craft demonstrations 
* Domestic activities of a traditional pioneer homestead.  
* S.W. Lowry Weaver Shop and Jacquard Loom Interpretive Centre  
* Lang Grist Mill (1846) where visitors can watch wheat ground into flour and take some home for baking 
* Visitor Centre with two exhibit galleries 
* Gift shop 
* MacKelvie Gallery that can be rented out for meetings or receptions with a maximum capacity of 30 people 
* Historic Glen Alda Church can be booked for weddings and church services.  
A wide selection of curriculum-based educational programs are offered to school groups, day camp programs, and group tours.

Public Comments Since 1967, it has been our mission to preserve and authentically recreate the history of Peterborough County. Each and every day we strive to provide visitors with an accurate and interactive view of the life of a 19th-century settler in rural Ontario.
Hours * Office: Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4 pm, year-round 
* Village: from the Tue after Victoria Day up to Father's Day Mon-Fri 10 am - 3 pm  
* from Father's Day through Labour Day Mon-Sun 10 am-4 pm 
* Special Events hours vary - call or visit website for information.

Site Location 20 minutes from Peterborough-10 miles east on Hwy 7 turn south at Hwy 28/CR 34 (Heritage Line)-approx 5 km. From Cobourg go north on CR 45 to Hastings; west on CR 2 to Keene; then north on CR 34 (Heritage Line). Watch for the signs.
